NBA 2K27 Crew HQ and Crew Divisions Explained: Ranked Tiers, Sunset Beach and Season 2 Rewards
NBA 2K27's Crew HQ has grown into one of The City's biggest systems, with ranked tiers, a Squad Showdown Kiosk and a fully refreshed Season 2 — including Double Crew XP, a +25% REP bonus and the return of Sunset Beach. Here's how the whole Crew system works.
NBA 2K27 gives Crews a bigger role in The City than in any previous entry, and Season 2 — live since October 16 — has made squadding up more rewarding than ever. If you have been grinding solo in the Park or The REC and wondering what Crew HQ actually does, how Ranked Crew Games work, or why your friends keep talking about Sunset Beach, this guide walks through the whole system using 2K's own Courtside Reports and official support documentation.
Crews are not a side mode bolted onto NBA 2K27 — they are built directly into the redesigned City hub, with their own building, their own ranked ladder, and their own progression track that now runs alongside your individual MyPLAYER career.
1. What Is Crew HQ in NBA 2K27?
Crew HQ is described by 2K as your squad's dedicated home base in The City, acting as the team-based equivalent of your individual MyCOURT. It has its own building in the redesigned, neon-lit City, and stepping inside gives your Crew a shared space to prepare before heading out to compete.
Inside, Crew HQ comes with built-in voice chat so your squad can talk strategy without leaving the menu, plus practice space on 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 half courts, and full 3v3 and 5v5 courts for scrimmaging before a real match. When you are ready to play for real, you queue into matchmaking for competitive 3v3 and 5v5 runs against rival Crews directly from inside the building.
2K also added a cosmetic, social layer here: you can customize your Crew's uniform and logo, and every member's jersey gets hung in the Crew HQ rafters. It is a small touch, but it means a Crew's history stays visible inside the building rather than buried in a stats menu.
Crucially, The City is fully co-ed in NBA 2K27 for the first time in the franchise's history, so every MyPLAYER — male or female — has full access to Crew HQ, The REC, The Theater, Street Kings, Park, Proving Grounds, Ante-Up and Starting 5 from the same account.
2. Ranked Crew Games: Tiers, Divisions and Weekly Promotion
The core competitive loop is Ranked Crew Games, which run across six tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Top Ranked. Matchmaking pairs your Crew against others who share your rank, or the closest available rank if an exact match isn't up.
Each day, your Crew is placed on a leaderboard against 39 other Crews in your tier — effectively a 40-team bracket — and you have seven days to prove yourself. Finish strong and you move up a tier; fall short and your Crew risks relegation back down. During the final weekend of every Season, a divisional tournament kicks off, pitting Crews against each other for a title and exclusive prizes. Then, at the start of the next Season, every Crew drops two tiers and has to climb back up to defend its turf, which keeps the ladder from going stale season over season.
3. Private Games and the Squad Showdown Kiosk
Not every Crew session needs to be ranked. Beyond matchmaking, the Squad Showdown Kiosk inside Crew HQ lets you host your own private runs and league play, inviting members from other Crews to play with or against them in casual matches. 2K has effectively folded the old Pro-Am experience directly into Crew HQ, turning it into a more team-focused, dedicated competitive environment rather than a separate mode.
For Season 2 specifically, 2K also adjusted Crew HQ's baseline difficulty to match The REC, making standard matches more accessible for newer or casual players. If you still want a sharper challenge, the Squad Showdown Kiosk retains its own competitive difficulty sliders for private matchmaking, so a league night with friends can be tuned as hard as your Crew wants it.
4. Crew Progression: Levels, XP and Rewards
Crew progression launched with 40 levels in NBA 2K27, ten more than the 30-level track in NBA 2K26. Starting with Season 2, 2K is adding five new levels to the Crew XP track every single Season, so there is always more to chase even for Crews that maxed out early. Climbing those levels earns MyPLAYER cosmetics and gameplay-affecting unlocks like Cap Breakers, Bonus Badge Slots and Tokens, and Synergy Slots, on top of whatever your individual Season Pass is paying out — if you want the full breakdown of how those slots and tokens interact with your build, see our guide to NBA 2K27's badge token and Synergy system.
Season 2's Pro Pass layers on top of that Crew track with its own rewards ladder: four automatic rewards plus 40 additional earnable premium rewards, including a Dark Matter Pascal Siakam card, cosmetic unlocks at various levels, and a Hall of Fame Pass tier that grants a 15% XP boost for the Season, 15,000 VC applied immediately, and ten level skips. According to the official rewards graphic, the Season 2 Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass remain available until 7:59 AM PT on November 27, 2026.
Reaching Level 40 specifically nets a set of Halloween-themed cosmetics for Season 2, along with four Synergy Badge Slots, two Bonus Badge Tokens and two Bonus Badge Slots — all account-wide upgrades that carry weight well beyond the Crew mode itself. If you are deciding how to spend the VC those rewards generate, our MyTEAM Exchange and Auction House breakdown covers where that currency goes furthest.
5. Season 2 Crew Divisions Boosts and Sunset Beach's Return
Crew Divisions got a direct buff with Update 2.0, which went live on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 8 and arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 and PC shortly before Season 2 began on October 16. Alongside wider refinements to shooting, passing, defense, steals and dribbling, and full 25-year careers for MyCAREER Eras, the update specifically increased REP and Crew XP earnings in Crew Divisions matches.
Per the Season 2 Courtside Report, that translates to Double Crew XP toward the rewards track and a +25% REP bonus on every Crew Divisions game you play this Season — a meaningful incentive to queue with your Crew instead of running solo Park games if you're trying to level up quickly.
Season 2 also brought back a fan-favorite location: Sunset Beach, remastered from NBA 2K17. 2K describes it as a seaside court where you can "grab your Crew and splash some threes against an iconic coastal backdrop, featuring a towering volcano and massive fish tank." Dominating games there racks up VC and unlocks cosmetic medals, and the squad that puts together the longest win streak earns maximum rewards and the Park MVP title for the stretch.
6. How to Join or Start a Crew
Crews are accessed through Crew HQ in The City, where you can either form your own squad — picking a uniform and logo — or join one of the public Crews 2K has seeded directly into the game, which are joinable from inside The City or through the companion NBA 2K HQ app. Because The City is now co-ed, Crew rosters can mix male and female MyPLAYERs for the first time, and any City-wide reward track, including the MyPOINTS Accelerator, applies to all MyPLAYERs regardless of which Crew they play for.
One platform note worth knowing before you commit to a Crew: full crossplay in NBA 2K27 is only available between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so a Crew that wants everyone matchmaking together should keep that limitation in mind.
