NBA 2K27 Editions, Early Access and Crossplay Explained: Standard vs Deluxe vs Ultra

NBA 2K27 launched worldwide on September 4, 2026, but it didn't launch as a single product. 2K is selling three separate versions of the game — Standard, Deluxe and Ultra — each with a different price, a different cover athlete, and a different pile of Virtual Currency and MyTEAM extras attached. If you're trying to work out which one is worth the extra money, or whether your platform even offers all three, here's exactly what's in each edition, when early access starts, and which consoles can actually play against each other online.

Everything below comes straight from 2K's official NBA 2K27 FAQ and storefront listings on Steam, PlayStation Store and the 2K Store — no guesswork on prices or contents.

1. The Three Editions at a Glance

NBA 2K27 is sold in three tiers:

• Standard Edition — $69.99. Available on every supported platform, including Nintendo Switch 2. This is the base game with no bundled Virtual Currency.
• Deluxe Edition — $99.99. Digital only, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam for PC. Not available in Belgium, Brazil or South Korea.
• Ultra Edition — Digital only, on the same three platforms as Deluxe (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC), and also excluded in Belgium, Brazil and South Korea. It is only sold through September 6, 2026, after which it's pulled from sale.

Whichever edition you pre-order, 2K throws in a flat 10,000 VC pre-order bonus on top of anything else that edition includes.

2. What's Included in the Deluxe Edition

According to 2K's official FAQ, the Deluxe Edition includes:

• 100,000 Virtual Currency
• Up to 7 days of Early Access
• MyTEAM: a Full '27 Series 1 Team Selection, a Triple Threat Park Free Agent Pack (three guaranteed Free Agent cards), 5x '27 Series 1 Packs, and a 2-Hour 2XP Coin
• MyCAREER: 25x each of six types of Skill Boosts, 25x each of three types of Gatorade Boosts, a 2-Hour 2XP Coin, a Victor Wembanyama jersey, and a Caitlin Clark jersey for your MyPLAYER

3. What's Included in the Ultra Edition

The Ultra Edition adds more Virtual Currency and season-long content on top of the Deluxe list. Per the official FAQ, it includes:

• 135,000 Virtual Currency
• The Season 1 Pro Pass
• A Summer Pass covering the Pro Passes for Seasons 7 through 9
• Up to 7 days of Early Access
• MyTEAM: two Ultra Edition MyTEAM Player Cards redeemable through The Exchange once it opens later in the year, plus the same Full '27 Series 1 Team Selection, Triple Threat Park Free Agent Pack, 5x '27 Series 1 Packs, and 2-Hour 2XP Coin as Deluxe
• MyCAREER: the same Skill and Gatorade Boosts and 2-Hour 2XP Coin as Deluxe, plus Victor Wembanyama and Caitlin Clark jerseys and a Roses Oversize Hoodie

2K also confirmed a loyalty discount: anyone who owned NBA 2K26 on PlayStation, Xbox or Steam gets 10% off when they pre-order the NBA 2K27 Ultra Edition on that same platform. Because the Pro Pass and Summer Pass are worth roughly $30-$40 if bought separately during the season (see the season pass pricing below), the practical jump from Deluxe to Ultra is mostly about those passes and the extra 35,000 VC — not extra early access, since both editions unlock on the same date.

4. Early Access: Exact Start Times

Pre-ordering the Deluxe or Ultra Edition unlocks up to 7 days of early access ahead of the September 4, 2026 release. Early Access began on August 28, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT. In other time zones, that was:

• New York: August 28, 2026, 12:00 PM EDT
• London: August 28, 2026, 5:00 PM BST
• Singapore: August 29, 2026, 12:00 AM SGT
• Tokyo: August 29, 2026, 1:00 AM JST
• Sydney: August 29, 2026, 2:00 AM AEST
• Wellington: August 29, 2026, 4:00 AM NZST

Early Access only applies to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC — it is not offered on Nintendo Switch 2, since that platform only carries the Standard Edition.

5. NBA 2K27 on Nintendo Switch 2

This is the first mainline NBA 2K game on a Nintendo console since the series moved on from the original Switch, and 2K has kept it simple: only the Standard Edition is available on Nintendo Switch 2, at the same $69.99 price as every other platform. There's no Deluxe or Ultra option on Switch 2, and no early access window for it. You still get MyNBA, Play Now, MyCAREER and MyTEAM on the platform, and the 10,000 VC pre-order bonus applies the same way it does everywhere else.

6. Crossplay: Which Platforms Can Actually Play Together

2K's official FAQ is specific about this one: crossplay in NBA 2K27 is limited to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players on those two platforms can join co-op matches and online tournaments together. Steam PC and Nintendo Switch 2 are each their own separate player pool — a PC player can't queue into a match with a Switch 2 or console player, and Switch 2 players can only matchmake with other Switch 2 owners.

There is one exception that crosses platform boundaries: the MyTEAM Auction House is shared across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, giving Switch 2 owners access to the same card market as console players for the first time in the franchise, even though they can't play head-to-head. 7. Season Passes: What They Cost If You Don't Buy Ultra

If you skip the Ultra Edition, you can still buy into the season content separately once it's live. According to 2K's official pricing:

• Pro Pass — $9.99 per season
• Hall of Fame Pass — $19.99 per season. This upgraded pass adds a 15% XP boost, 10 Level Skips and 15,000 VC on top of the Pro Pass rewards.
• Pass Upgrade (Pro to Hall of Fame) — $9.99
• Individual Level Skips — $1.99 each

8. So Which Edition Should You Actually Buy?

There's no universal right answer, but the official contents make the trade-offs clear:

• Buy Standard if you're on Nintendo Switch 2 (it's your only option), or if you don't plan to spend more money on VC or season passes anyway.
• Buy Deluxe if you want a week of early access and 100,000 VC to jump-start a MyPLAYER or MyTEAM roster, without paying for season content you might not use.
• Buy Ultra only if you were already going to buy the Season 1 Pro Pass and the Seasons 7-9 Summer Pass individually — at that point the extra cost over Deluxe is mostly covering passes you'd have bought anyway, plus 35,000 extra VC and some MyTEAM Exchange cards.
