Quick Summary

Raven Software's October 7, 2026 update for Call of Duty: Warzone slows down C4's detonation delay, trims Supply Drone caps in Battle Royale and Resurgence, and fixes a bug that was incorrectly removing active players for being AFK. Here's a full breakdown of every change, plus where Season 06 stands as Modern Warfare 4's October 23 launch approaches.

Raven Software shipped a new Call of Duty: Warzone update on October 7, 2026, and while it is not a full seasonal content drop, it tweaks three things players run into in nearly every Battle Royale and Resurgence match: how long C4 takes to detonate, how many Supply Drones can be active at once, and a bug that was wrongly kicking active players for being AFK. Here is everything in the patch, in plain terms, plus where it leaves Season 06 as Modern Warfare 4's release closes in.

1. C4 Detonation Delay: Why Raven Slowed Down the Fuse

The headline gameplay change is a straightforward number tweak with an outsized effect in close-quarters fights: the delay between throwing C4 and being able to detonate it has been increased from 0.05 seconds to 0.2 seconds. That is a four-fold increase on paper, though in practice it is still well under a quarter-second.

The change targets a very specific trick: sticking C4 on an enemy or a doorway and detonating it almost instantly, before the target has any chance to react or reposition. A 0.05-second window left essentially no room to escape or counter-play; 0.2 seconds gives just enough time for a player to notice the beep and dive, even if it is still a tight margin. It is the same lever Raven pulled with Last Stand two weeks earlier — see the September 24 patch that removed C4 detonation from Last Stand — and together the two changes make C4 less of an unavoidable instant-kill tool and more of a standard area-denial explosive.

2. Supply Drones Get Trimmed in Battle Royale and Resurgence

Supply Drone caps have been reduced across the board:

  • Battle Royale: maximum active Supply Drones reduced from 13 to 11.
  • Resurgence: maximum active Supply Drones reduced from 8 to 7.

Fewer drones in the air at once means fewer simultaneous loot pulls flying overhead late in a match, which should thin out some of the mid-to-late-game loot spam on crowded lobbies. Alongside the drone count, Raven also made a smaller change to what is inside the crates they drop: the percentage of reusable crates was slightly increased, and the percentage of legendary crates was slightly reduced. Neither figure was published as an exact percentage, so treat it as a modest rebalance rather than a dramatic loot nerf — you should just see legendary pulls a little less often and reusable ones a little more often.

3. Death Recap Timing Gets a Minor Adjustment

A small quality-of-life change: the timing of the "Affected by" notifications in the Death Recap screen — the pop-ups that tell you a status effect like gas or fire contributed to your death — has been slightly adjusted. Raven did not specify the exact timing change, but it falls in the same bucket as the information-clarity work the studio has been doing on Death Recap all season, making it easier to tell exactly what killed you after the fact.

4. Bug Fixes: Helicopter Damage and the AFK False-Positive Fix

Two fixes stand out in the bug list:

  • Helicopter seat-swap exploit fixed. Players could previously avoid crash damage by switching seats inside a helicopter right before it hit the ground. That window is now closed, so swapping seats won't save you from a hard landing anymore.
  • AFK removal false positives fixed. Raven fixed "an issue causing some active players to be incorrectly removed for inactivity." This directly follows the AFK detection system the studio introduced in the September 30 update (new on-screen alerts warning a teammate is about to be flagged as AFK), which was partly built to catch botting behavior but was also catching legitimate players who, say, were alive but briefly not moving. If you were kicked from a match for "AFK" while you were clearly still playing in the past couple of weeks, this fix is aimed squarely at that problem.

The full patch also carries over the complete list of fixes from the September 24 and September 30 updates on the same page, including the Bank Vault damage-immunity exploit and the Fortune's Keep Boat exclusion-zone exploit — both already covered in our breakdown of the hotfix that followed.

5. No New Weapon Balance Changes This Time

Unlike the September 24 and September 30 updates, which included weapon-specific adjustments (the TR51 PARA's rate of fire was cut from 625rpm to 333rpm in the September 30 patch, for example), the October 7 update is entirely gameplay systems and bug fixes — there are no weapon buffs or nerfs in this one. If you're chasing the current weapon meta, the relevant changes are still the ones from earlier in Season 06, not this patch.

6. Where This Leaves Season 06 Before Modern Warfare 4

This update lands roughly three weeks into Season 06's Haunting event, and about two weeks before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives. Activision has officially confirmed Modern Warfare 4, led by Infinity Ward, launches globally on October 23, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC (Battle.net, Xbox on PC, Steam) and Nintendo Switch 2. Ahead of that, players who digitally pre-order or pre-purchase the Standard or Vault Edition get Campaign Early Access starting October 16, 2026 — a week before the full release, covering the single-player campaign only, with multiplayer and the rest of the game still locked until October 23. Physical pre-orders don't qualify for early access, and Activision notes the start date and platform availability are subject to change.

None of that changes anything about the October 7 Warzone update itself, but it explains the context: Raven is still actively patching Black Ops 7 and Warzone's current systems and bugs, even as the franchise's attention shifts toward Modern Warfare 4's launch window. Nothing in this patch or in Activision's public communications confirms a specific date for Warzone's integration with Modern Warfare 4, so treat any larger "last Black Ops 7 season" claims you see elsewhere as outlet speculation rather than an official statement.

Quick-Tips Recap

  • C4 now has a 0.2-second detonation delay (up from 0.05 seconds) — sticky kills are slightly easier to react to.
  • Supply Drone caps are down to 11 in Battle Royale and 7 in Resurgence, with slightly more reusable crates and slightly fewer legendary crates.
  • Death Recap's "Affected by" notification timing was adjusted.
  • Helicopter seat-swapping no longer avoids crash damage.
  • A bug incorrectly flagging active players as AFK has been fixed.
  • No weapon balance changes shipped in this specific update.
  • Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026; digital pre-order Campaign Early Access begins October 16, 2026.
