Call of Duty: Warzone Season 06 — September 24 Update: Every Exploit Fix and Bug Fix Explained
Call of Duty: Warzone's September 24, 2026 hotfix closes a cash-on-death exploit, blocks C4 detonation from Last Stand, and nerfs the Fortune's Keep Boat Exclusion Zone. Here is every gameplay change and bug fix in the Season 06 update, straight from Raven Software's official patch notes.
Raven Software shipped a mid-season hotfix for Call of Duty: Warzone on September 24, 2026, and it is a small update with an outsized effect on how matches actually play out. Three separate exploits that players had been abusing for weeks are now closed, alongside half a dozen quieter bug fixes touching Multiplayer, Zombies, and Endgame. None of it adds new content — that is still tied to the wider Season 06: The Haunting roadmap — but if you have noticed cash appearing out of nowhere, C4 going off from a downed player, or a squad camping behind an endlessly-refreshed safe zone on Fortune's Keep, this update is why those tricks stop working.
Here is every change in the September 24 patch, based on Raven Software's official patch notes, along with the studio's own explanation for why each fix was made.
1. The Cash-on-Death Exploit Is Fixed
The biggest economy fix targets a loophole in how Warzone handles player elimination. Previously, a player carrying zero cash who was eliminated by self-inflicted damage — fall damage, a mistimed explosive, and similar causes — would still drop $500 on death. Squads figured out they could trigger this deliberately and repeatedly to generate cash that had no business being in the match economy, effectively printing money for free.
As of September 24, players with no cash who are eliminated by self-inflicted damage no longer drop the $500. Raven Software said directly in the patch notes that the system "was being used to generate more cash than intended, resulting in an unintended impact on the in-match economy" — official confirmation that this was treated as an exploit rather than a quirky bonus.
2. No More Detonating C4 From Last Stand
The second change closes a combat exploit rather than an economy one. Players in Last Stand — the crawling, one-hand-firing state that follows a knockdown before a full death — could still manually detonate any C4 charge they had planted before going down. That let a technically "dead" player take out anyone standing near their charge, an ability Raven Software says was never supposed to survive into Last Stand in the first place.
C4 detonation is now disabled entirely while a player is in Last Stand. It is a small rule change on paper, but it removes a genuinely unfair edge case in close-quarters fights fought around planted charges, particularly in Resurgence modes where Last Stand comes up constantly.
3. Fortune's Keep Boat Exclusion Zone, Nerfed
Fortune's Keep's Boat brings a temporary Exclusion Zone as one of its perks — a bubble that blocks enemies from entering or firing effectively into the area. Players had found a way to stretch that zone's uptime well past what Raven Software intended, turning a short defensive tool into something closer to a permanent safe room. The September 24 patch cuts the ability down on two fronts:
- Available uses drop from 3 down to 2 per Boat.
- Duration falls from roughly 140 seconds to about 80 seconds per activation.
Raven Software confirmed the reasoning directly in the patch notes: "We've identified an exploit that could extend the Exclusion Zone beyond its intended duration. This change ensures it expires as designed." In practice, squads that had been camping behind an endlessly-refreshed safe zone on Fortune's Keep lose a major late-game advantage.
4. Every Other Bug Fix in the September 24 Patch
Alongside the three headline changes, Raven Software also quietly cleared out a batch of smaller issues that had been reported since Season 06 launched on September 16:
- Loadout Crates could become non-interactable after being displaced by an attached C4 charge — fixed.
- A Bank Vault exploit let players avoid all incoming damage simply by remaining inside the Vault's interaction screen — closed.
- Trying to Prestige a weapon through the "Equip Weapon and Open Gunsmith" flow could accidentally Prestige a different, previously selected weapon instead of the one being viewed — fixed.
- The VS Rebound Havoc Repeater Fire Mod on the VS Recon was blocking progress on the Network Special Camo challenge — fixed.
- The Eldritch Gate event at the Floating Island on Haunted Hollow, which had been temporarily disabled, is confirmed back online.
- A lingering delay when detonating C4, already addressed in an earlier hotfix, is confirmed fixed in this build as well.
None of these are dramatic changes on their own, but together they are exactly the kind of cleanup that keeps a live battle royale playable in the weeks between bigger content drops.
5. Official Confirmation, Straight From Call of Duty
Raven Software confirmed the update through the official Call of Duty Updates account the same day the patch rolled out on all platforms:

6. Where This Fits Into Season 06: The Haunting
This hotfix does not touch any of the content that arrived when Season 06 launched on September 16 — Haunted Hollow, the 64-player Giant Infected mode, the reworked Ranked Play structure, or the new weapons rotating through the Battle Pass and event tracks. For the full rundown of what changed at launch, our Season 06: The Haunting breakdown covers the new map, modes, and Ranked Play changes in detail.
It is also worth remembering that Season 06 is a deliberately short one. Raven Software has said this Ranked season runs for just three weeks, and it is also the last chance to play Black Ops Royale before that mode is retired for good, so exploit fixes like these matter more than usual for keeping a compressed competitive window honest.
If you are chasing new content rather than hunting bugs, the co-op Endgame PvE mode is where several of this season's weapons — including the Heatsync launcher — are showing up first, and the DOOM Event Pass rewards are still up for grabs for anyone who has not unlocked the Doom Slayer Operator yet.
7. Quick Tips Recap
- Self-inflicted deaths with no cash on hand no longer drop $500 — the exploit is closed.
- C4 can no longer be detonated by a player who is in Last Stand.
- Fortune's Keep Boat's Exclusion Zone now lasts about 80 seconds and offers 2 uses instead of 3 — plan around the shorter window rather than relying on it as a long-term hold.
- The Bank Vault damage-avoidance exploit and the Loadout Crate/C4 interaction bug are both fixed.
- The Eldritch Gate event on Haunted Hollow's Floating Island is back online after being temporarily disabled.
- Weapon Prestige and the VS Recon's Network Special Camo challenge should now behave as intended.
Raven Software did not flag any further gameplay changes beyond these in the September 24 build, and there is no word yet on when the next Warzone update lands. For anyone catching up on the season as a whole, our full library of Call of Duty coverage has the rest of what launched with Season 06.
