Quick Summary

Call of Duty: Warzone's next era begins on November 6, 2026, when Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live for both games at once. Here's every map, weapon, movement, and platform change Activision has confirmed so far, including the new maps Hajin and Zodiac and the end of PS4/Xbox One support.

Call of Duty: Warzone is about to change games again. On November 6, 2026, Warzone drops its Black Ops 7 foundation and switches over to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 as Season 1 goes live for both games simultaneously. Activision has confirmed two new battle royale maps, a returning fan favorite, a full weapons and Battle Pass refresh, and the end of Warzone support on last-generation consoles.

Here is everything Activision has officially confirmed about the switch so far, what it means for players still finishing out Black Ops 7, and what to expect when the new season begins.

1. When Warzone Switches to Modern Warfare 4 Season 1

Season 1 for Modern Warfare 4 and Call of Duty: Warzone is scheduled to begin at 00:00 ET on November 6, 2026 (9:00 PM PT on November 5), according to Activision's official season announcement. The timing lines up with Infinity Ward's previously published content roadmap, which set Season 1 for exactly two weeks after Modern Warfare 4's full launch on October 23, 2026.

Until that moment, Warzone keeps running on its current Black Ops 7 Season 06 build. Activision has said a full Warzone-specific roadmap, covering modes and event details beyond the headline map changes, is coming separately.

2. Hajin and the Return of Verdansk: Warzone's New Battle Royale Maps

Warzone's battle royale mode will run on two large maps side by side: the returning Verdansk and the brand-new Hajin, which Activision describes as the new primary battle royale map built for the Modern Warfare 4 era. Both have been confirmed by name in Activision's official Season 1 announcement, though full location breakdowns and points of interest have not yet been published.

Keeping Verdansk in rotation alongside a new map is a departure from past full title-swaps, which have usually retired the previous map outright. It gives returning players a familiar space to drop into while Hajin becomes the long-term home for the mode.

3. Resurgence Gets a Second Map: Zodiac Joins Rebirth Island

Resurgence mode follows the same pattern as battle royale: Rebirth Island stays in the game, and a new map called Zodiac joins it. Zodiac previously appeared during the Modern Warfare 4 beta as a Resurgence-focused map, so Season 1 marks its first appearance in the live game. Activision has not yet detailed Zodiac's size or layout beyond confirming it as a Resurgence map.

4. Movement Changes: Tactical Sprint Returns to Warzone

Modern Warfare 4's movement system carries over into Warzone, and the most notable change is Tactical Sprint. Rather than requiring a dedicated perk to unlock it, as in recent Warzone seasons, Tac Sprint is expected to be available by default to every operator, with a shorter burst duration than in past Modern Warfare titles. During the Modern Warfare 4 beta, Infinity Ward had removed Tac Sprint from the base movement kit entirely in response to player feedback, so its return as a baseline ability specifically for Warzone is a deliberate difference between the two games' movement models.

5. What Carries Over From Black Ops 7, Modern Warfare II and III

Activision has confirmed that operators, weapons, skins, and blueprints earned in Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 remain usable in Warzone after the Modern Warfare 4 switch. Loadout progress and cosmetic unlocks from those titles are not being reset, so players returning after a break should still find their existing operators and weapon blueprints available in-game once Season 1 goes live.

6. Warzone Leaves Last-Gen Consoles Behind

The Modern Warfare 4 integration also marks the end of the road for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One support in Warzone. Because Modern Warfare 4 itself was built exclusively for current-generation hardware, Warzone will stop functioning on last-gen consoles once Season 1 launches on November 6. Players on PS4 or Xbox One will need to move to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, or Nintendo Switch 2 to keep playing.

7. New Weapons and the Season 1 Battle Pass

Season 1's Battle Pass introduces two confirmed new weapons: the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 submachine gun. Both will be unlockable through Battle Pass progression and are expected to be usable across Multiplayer, Warzone, and DMZ once unlocked.

Activision has also restructured the premium Battle Pass itself. It is now a linear 100-tier track with more than 100 unlockable items, and a catch-up system that automatically advances players who fall behind to whatever tier is current for that day, up to tier 50. That should make it easier for players who buy the pass partway through the season to avoid missing content.

On the multiplayer side, Season 1 launches with new maps including Backstab, Canyon, and a reimagined version of Shoot House set in North Korea, alongside returning modes Grind and Drop Zone. A mid-season update is planned to add the Ministry and Overflow maps plus a new Counter Attack mode.

8. DMZ's New X01 Weapons Facility

Outside of Warzone proper, DMZ players get a new extraction location in Season 1: the X01 weapons facility, described by Activision as recently seized by enemy forces. The update also adds new DMZ Orders, Threat Briefings aimed at Boss-tier threats, and Resupply Runs, giving squads more objectives to pursue inside the location.

9. What This Means If You're Still Playing Black Ops 7

Black Ops 7's own Season 06 content, including The Haunting event covered in our Season 06 breakdown, remains playable right up until the Modern Warfare 4 switch on November 6. Treyarch has already begun handing off responsibility for the live game, a transition we detailed in our look at what comes next for Call of Duty after Black Ops 7. If you want the background on Modern Warfare 4 itself, including its editions and original Warzone plans, our Modern Warfare 4 release date guide covers what Activision announced ahead of October's launch.

Players who want to see what Activision has already been fixing on the current build before the switch can check our recap of the October 7 Warzone patch, which addressed C4 balance and AFK exploits still active on Black Ops 7's version of the game.
