Pokémon GO Halloween 2026: Is the GO Pass Deluxe Worth Buying?
Pokémon GO's Halloween 2026 Part I event is live, and the GO Pass system has three tiers: free, Deluxe (US$7.99) and Deluxe + 10 Ranks (US$9.99). Here's exactly what each one unlocks and which tier actually makes sense for your playstyle.
Pokémon GO's Halloween 2026 event kicked off today, October 27, bringing costumed Pikachu, Zubat and Sinistea into the wild alongside a paid GO Pass track. If you're deciding whether to spend US$7.99 or US$9.99 on the Deluxe pass before the window closes, here's exactly what each tier unlocks, what the free track already gives you, and how to think about the value.
This isn't a rundown of every costumed Pokémon — our full Halloween Part I breakdown covers the costumes, raid bosses and shiny odds in detail. This piece focuses purely on the GO Pass system: what's free, what's paywalled, and whether the upgrade is worth it for your playstyle.
1. Halloween 2026 Part I: the basics
Part I of Pokémon GO's Halloween event runs from Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., local time. It's part of the game's 10th Anniversary celebration and falls under the ongoing "Twilight Trails" seasonal branding, which is stamped across the event art and avatar items.
During the event, Pokémon encounters, PokéStops and Gyms get Halloween decorations, and a nightly remix of the classic Lavender Town theme plays as a Tier 1 GO Pass bonus. Costumed Pikachu (wearing a hat and capelet), Zubat (top hat) and Sinistea (bow) all make their debut, each with a shiny chance. Wild spawns add Duskull, a Halloween Mischief-costumed Piplup and Drifblim, while one-star raids feature the costumed Pikachu and Sinistea.
2. What the free GO Pass includes
Every trainer gets the Halloween 2026 GO Pass automatically — no purchase required. The free pass is active from the same October 27 10:00 a.m. start through Thursday, November 5, at 8:00 p.m. local time, with rewards from already-unlocked ranks claimable until Saturday, November 7, at 8:00 p.m.
Progressing through the free track unlocks two bonus tiers:
- Rank 10 (Tier 1): 2× Candy for catching Pokémon, plus the nightly Lavender Town remix.
- Rank 20 (Tier 2): 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
Free-track rewards also include encounters and candy for the event's costumed Pokémon, Rare Candy, and Ultra Balls as you rank up. There's also a free Timed Research with tasks that auto-complete for every trainer, handing out 6 Rare Candies and a guaranteed encounter with the costumed Pikachu (shiny possible) just for logging in during the event.
3. GO Pass Deluxe: what US$7.99 adds
Upgrading to GO Pass Deluxe costs US$7.99 (regional pricing and availability vary) and unlocks a second, parallel reward track. Deluxe doesn't replace the free rewards — it adds a second column you claim alongside them, and you can upgrade at any point during the event and still claim everything retroactively.
Deluxe raises both bonus tiers by an extra multiplier step:
- Rank 10 (Tier 1): Candy-catching bonus increases from 2× to 3×.
- Rank 20 (Tier 2): Stardust-catching bonus increases from 2× to 3×.
On top of the boosted multipliers, Deluxe-exclusive rewards include additional encounters with more of the event's Pokémon, Rare Candy XL (useful for powering up high-CP investments without burning regular Candy), Premium Battle Passes for GO Battle League, and two cosmetic items: a Patissier Top and Patissier Pants for your avatar.
4. GO Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks: the faster option
A third option, GO Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks, costs US$9.99 — a dollar more than standard Deluxe — and includes everything Deluxe offers, plus enough GO Points to jump straight to Rank 11. That's useful if you're short on play time this week and want to guarantee you clear the Rank 10 bonus tier (and most of its rewards) immediately rather than grinding catches to get there.
Both paid tiers can also be bought from Niantic's Web Store, which throws in extra items purchased separately from the in-game pass itself:
- GO Pass Deluxe (Web Store): 10 Ultra Balls, 5 Max Revives, 1 Premium Battle Pass, 5 Max Potions.
- GO Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks (Web Store): 10 Ultra Balls, 5 Max Revives, 2 Premium Battle Passes, 5 Max Potions.
- GO Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks Ultra Box (Web Store exclusive): 20 Ultra Balls, 10 Max Revives, 10 Max Potions, 5 Premium Battle Passes.
A Deluxe purchase made through the Web Store activates the moment the GO Pass goes live in-game, so there's no delay versus buying it directly through the app.
5. Is it actually worth buying?
There's no universal answer here, but the math breaks down fairly cleanly depending on how you play:
- Casual players who won't hit Rank 20: The free pass alone already gets you the costumed Pikachu encounter, Rare Candies and the Rank 10 Candy bonus. Deluxe's extra value (3× instead of 2×, Rare Candy XL, extra encounters) only pays off once you're actually logging the catches needed to climb ranks.
- Regular players who grind to Rank 20 anyway: Deluxe is the better value of the two paid tiers — you're already doing the catching, so the upgraded 3× multipliers and Rare Candy XL compound naturally without needing the Rank skip.
- Time-crunched players who want the Rank 10 rewards guaranteed: The +10 Ranks option is worth the extra dollar specifically to skip straight past the early grind, especially if Halloween week is busy and you're worried about reaching Rank 10 before the pass window closes on November 5.
Either way, don't wait too long to decide — the pass itself stops being purchasable/progressable after November 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time, and already-unlocked rewards must be claimed by November 7 at 8:00 p.m.
6. Other ways to earn event rewards
Outside the GO Pass, Halloween 2026 Part I also adds a full sticker set — a Pikachu-shaped balloon, costumed Zubat, a pumpkin-styled Pokémon, a Sinistea teapot design and the costumed Pikachu — obtainable by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, or buying them directly in the shop.
There's also an event-exclusive avatar outfit in the shop — a double-breasted jacket with an orange sash and matching trousers — separate from the Gothic-themed sets tied to the GO Pass tracks, plus event Field Research tasks that hand out encounters with the event's costumed and wild Pokémon as you spin stops around town.
Quick recap

- The free GO Pass already includes a Pikachu encounter, Rare Candy, Ultra Balls and 2× Candy/Stardust bonuses at Rank 10 and 20.
