Quick Summary

EA's October 13 Launch Feedback Update for EA Sports FC 27 rounds up community complaints since launch — manual defending, FUT Champions matchmaking, Career Mode transfer requests and The Grounds' Kickabouts queues — and confirms which ones already have fixes live.

EA Sports published a Launch Feedback Update for EA Sports FC 27 on October 13, rounding up what players have been saying since the game went fully live on September 25 and confirming which of those complaints are already being worked on. It is less a patch and more a status report: a look at manual defending, Ultimate Team matchmaking, Career Mode transfer requests and The Grounds' Kickabouts queues, with a recap of everything the four development teams have flagged since launch.

None of this is a rumor or a leak — it is EA's own developer blog, and it lines up with the title updates the studio has already shipped. Here is exactly what changed, what EA says it is still investigating, and where that leaves players heading into the next few weeks.

1. What the Launch Feedback Update Actually Covers

EA frames the post as a direct response to community feedback gathered over the first two-plus weeks since worldwide launch. It is split into two parts: a "Community Launch Feedback" section addressing specific complaints, and a recap of the ongoing "Developer Launch Updates" that EA has been publishing mode-by-mode since release.

The five issues EA calls out directly are manual defending difficulty, FUT Champions matchmaking inconsistency, an overload of Career Mode transfer requests, fullbacks sitting too deep defensively, and trouble finding a match in The Grounds' Kickabouts. Two of those already have fixes live; the other three are still being monitored or tested.

2. Gameplay: Manual Defending and Fullback Depth

Manual defending has been one of the most discussed topics since launch, and EA acknowledges there is a real learning curve rather than dismissing the complaints. The studio says it is continuing to monitor player data before deciding whether to adjust the system further — in other words, no changes have landed yet, and none are promised on a specific date.

The second gameplay item is more technical: fullbacks dropping too deep in defensive shape, which can leave attackers onside more often than intended and flattens a team's defensive structure. EA says it is treating this one carefully because fullback positioning affects overall match balance, so a quick hotfix is unlikely. Players who want the fuller context on how defending, passing and attacking were tuned for this release can check our breakdown of FC 27's defending and attacking changes.

3. FUT: Champions Matchmaking Fix and What's Still Being Watched

The clearest win in the update is Ultimate Team. EA confirms that FUT Champions matchmaking was inconsistent during the very first Champions weekend after launch, and that a fix for it was already deployed on October 9 — the same day EA published its Future Stars promo. If you queued into uneven Champions games in that opening window, this is the fix that was meant to address it.

Beyond that specific bug, EA says it continues to track general Ultimate Team gameplay and progression pacing, the health of the Transfer Market, and feedback on Squad Building Challenges and Objectives — all standard ongoing monitoring rather than confirmed upcoming changes. The timing lines up with Future Stars, FUT's current live promo, which began tracking real-world domestic league form on October 9 and headlines Rio Ngumoha in its first squad.

4. Career Mode: Transfer Request Fatigue and the Fixes So Far

Career Mode players flagged two related problems: too many transfer requests arriving at once, and too many competing offers coming in for the same player, which made squad management feel noisy rather than strategic. EA says improvements to this were already rolled into Title Update v1.0.3 and carried further in v1.0.4, rather than being a brand-new fix tied to this blog post.

Those two title updates also changed how often high-overall and high-potential players get generated for AI-run clubs, made CPU teams actually respond to very high transfer offers instead of auto-accepting them, and fixed a Liga MX season bug that was restarting the calendar in May instead of mid-January. The full list of what shipped in that patch is in our Title Update 1.0.4 patch notes explainer, and our Career Mode guide to Manager Live and Creator Challenges covers the mode's other new systems for this release.

EA is also still looking into a separate Career Mode issue: newly generated young players sometimes starting with a higher overall rating than expected, which can throw off long-term squad building if left unaddressed. No fix date has been given for that one yet.

5. The Grounds: Kickabouts Matchmaking Struggles

The Grounds — FC 27's new shared social hub built around small-sided football, Kickabouts and 11v11 Clubs play — has its own matchmaking headache. EA says Kickabouts, the mode's pickup-game format, can be hard to start simply because there aren't always enough players active at a given location to fill a match. The studio says it is actively working on improving the matchmaking queues behind this, without committing to a specific fix window.

This builds on The Grounds' own developer update from October 2, where EA said it was exploring letting winning teams stay on a pitch to build streaks, looking at cross-server matchmaking and scheduled Kickabout events as ways to boost player density, and was already tracking slow or unresponsive menus. If you haven't played The Grounds yet, our guide to Clubs, Archetypes and Kickabouts in The Grounds walks through how the mode's systems fit together.

6. What's Next: Developer Q&As and How to Give Feedback

EA says recaps of live Discord Q&A sessions with the Gameplay, Career Mode, FUT and The Grounds teams are posted in the official EA Sports FC Discord, in the #FC-Direct-and-Dev-Comms channel, for anyone who wants more detail straight from the development teams than a blog post can cover. The company has not announced a date for the next title update at time of writing, so treat the items above as "in progress" rather than scheduled.

The practical takeaway: two concrete fixes are already live — the October 9 FUT Champions matchmaking patch, and the Career Mode transfer tuning spread across v1.0.3 and v1.0.4. Three more issues (manual defending, fullback depth, and Kickabouts matchmaking) are acknowledged but still being worked on, with no confirmed timeline. That is a normal shape for a launch-month live-service update — nothing here suggests a major rebalance is imminent, just ongoing tuning.

Quick-Tips Recap

  • FUT Champions matchmaking issues from the first Champions weekend were fixed on October 9.
  • Career Mode transfer request and offer spam has already been toned down across Title Updates v1.0.3 and v1.0.4.
  • Manual defending difficulty and fullback defensive depth are both acknowledged complaints with no fix date yet.
  • The Grounds' Kickabouts matchmaking is being reworked to address low player density at some locations.
  • Developer Q&A recaps are posted in the official EA Sports FC Discord for players who want more detail.
