Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 — Hajin, Zodiac and Every New Map and Mode Explained
Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 1 update landed November 6, adding two brand-new maps — Hajin and Zodiac — along with fresh limited-time modes, Field Upgrades and a reworked Perk system tied to Modern Warfare 4. Here's everything confirmed in Activision's own Season 1 rundown.
Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 1 update went live at midnight ET on November 6, kicking off the battle royale's integration with Modern Warfare 4. The headline additions are two brand-new maps, Hajin and Zodiac, along with a fresh set of launch modes, field upgrades and progression systems. Here's a full breakdown of what actually shipped, straight from Activision's own Season 1 rundown.
1. When Season 1 Launched and What Changed at the Platform Level
Warzone's Modern Warfare 4 integration went live at 0000 ET on November 6 (2100 PT on November 5) across every supported platform. Two changes bookend the update: Warzone officially launched on Nintendo Switch 2 at the start of Season 1, and support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ended the same day — Warzone is no longer playable on those two consoles. Anyone moving off PS4 or Xbox One keeps their progress by signing into the same linked Activision account on a supported platform.
Season 1 also reset Player Level across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, with an optional Prestige system available for players who want to climb the ranks again. For more on the broader rollout — including the movement rework and weapon changes that landed alongside it — our breakdown of the Season 1 patch notes covers that side of the update in detail.
2. Hajin: Warzone's First Battle Royale Map Set on the Korean Peninsula
Hajin is Call of Duty: Warzone's first map built around the Korean Peninsula, and it ties directly into the Modern Warfare 4 campaign's story. Activision describes it as a large-scale Battle Royale map spanning both North and South Korea, mixing dense city streets with farmland, rivers and forested hills. Variable weather — fog, wind, rain and distant storms — can affect visibility as a match plays out.
The map carries 13 major points of interest, including Hajin City, Imjin Farmland, the 14th Political Prison, Chang-san Air Base and Deadtown. Players who've played the Hajin location in DMZ will notice differences in the Warzone version: the Edge Circle and gas movement behave differently, there's no radioactive cloud event at the Hanuel Nuclear Reactor, and vehicle placement and loot distribution have both been adjusted for battle royale pacing.
A New Gulag on Hajin
Hajin ships with its own Gulag — two layout variants where eliminated players fight for a chance to redeploy through a 1v1 duel, the same core format Warzone has used since its original Verdansk Gulag.
3. Zodiac: A Compact Resurgence Map Inside a Drone Factory
Zodiac is the new Resurgence map, built around the fictional DRC Advanced Systems drone assembly and manufacturing headquarters in South Korea. It's a tighter, close-quarters layout than Hajin, mixing factory interiors, research facilities, elevated rooftops, underground tunnels and coastal terrain. Activision lists ten points of interest on Zodiac: Admin, Trackline, Furnace, Solar, Old Mines, Dispatch, Depot, Sentinel, Cooling and R&D.
Trackline stands out for its double railway line with moving trains running through it, while other POIs have their own interactive hazards — moving solar panels at Solar, conveyor belts at Furnace, and explosive fuel barrels scattered around the map that can be used offensively. Zodiac was built by Beenox working closely with Infinity Ward.
4. Launch Modes: Rally Point, Massive Resurgence and Loaded Resurgence
Three limited-time modes launched alongside the new maps, each built around a different player count and ruleset:
- Rally Point — Up to 20 players on Zodiac in a no-circle, infinite Resurgence training mode with drop-in/drop-out play, a "Neutral Grounds" safe zone, and an exclusive weapon Blueprint plus two weapon camos for taking part.
- Massive Resurgence — Up to 120 players on Hajin, cycling through Resurgence, Wipe Out and Survive rule sets for a bigger, higher-chaos version of the mode.
- Loaded Resurgence — Up to 44 players across Zodiac and Rebirth Island, where everyone drops in with their own custom Loadout from the start and earns Perks through eliminations while working toward the Specialist bonus.
Two more modes, Rockets and Snipers and Extreme Resurgence, are confirmed for later in the season. Outside the limited-time rotation, Warzone's standard modes are now split as Battle Royale and Battle Royale Casual (playable on Hajin and Verdansk) and Resurgence and Resurgence Casual (on Zodiac and Rebirth Island) — Activision confirms Verdansk and Rebirth Island are both returning in-season rather than being retired.
5. New Field Upgrades and Ground Ops Gear
Season 1 adds several new Field Upgrades to Warzone's equipment pool. The Zipline Launcher creates a zipline that stays active until it's retrieved or destroyed — and enemies can ride it too, so placement matters. The Grabber Drone is a remote-controlled drone that can pick up loot, objects and even other Operators and carry them across the map.
Rounding out the new Field Upgrades are the Perk Supply Box, Razor Wire, a Redeploy Drone and Beacon (limited to Hajin's Massive Resurgence and Rally Point modes), a SAM Airburst Turret for knocking down aircraft and streaks, and a Smoke Wall for blocking sightlines. On the map side, both Hajin and Zodiac add interactive objects — movable fuel barrels, pushable dumpsters and concrete cylinders, and pyramids that can be used to block roads to vehicles.
Ground Ops also returns with new elements to loot and fight over: safes, surveillance towers, legendary loot chests, cargo drones and radioactive barrels are all scattered across the new maps.
6. Weapons, Legacy Gunsmith and the Operator Skin Toggle
Season 1 gives players access to all 33 Modern Warfare 4 launch weapons, with more arriving later in the season, plus Weapon Prestige and new Warzone Mastery Camos to chase. Three Mastery Camos in particular — Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros — each unlock through their own sequential challenge line.
Weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 haven't disappeared; they've moved into a dedicated Legacy tab. Legacy weapons can't be edited in Gunsmith and don't support Mastery Camos, Reticle Challenges or Build Codes, and Legacy Blueprints start locked, unlocking gradually through Player XP spent in the Armory. Operators, skins and other cosmetics from those same four titles carry forward into Season 1, and a new Operator Skin Toggle lets Warzone specifically remember a different appearance than the one you're using in Multiplayer — we covered exactly how that skin toggle works in a separate guide.
New Weapon Augments also arrive this season, bought from "Fly Buy" Buy Stations in three categories — CQC, Marksman and Handling — letting players tune a weapon's handling mid-match without needing a full loadout drop. For context on how Modern Warfare 4 itself ties into all of this, our Modern Warfare 4 release guide runs through the base game's launch lineup.
7. Elite Perks and Other Progression Changes
Warzone's Perk system now totals 18 Perks: 15 that can be selected directly in a Loadout across three Perk slots, and three Elite Perks — Athleticism, Phantom and Fieldcraft — that can only be found during a match rather than chosen ahead of time. Equipment has also been revised across the board, with 8 Tacticals, 10 Lethals, 13 Field Upgrades, 9 Killstreaks and 4 Special Items now available.
A new system called Grind for Royalty adds personalized challenges that reset every season; this season's rewards include the "Gold Excellence" and "Gold Mosaic" weapon camos. Players can also pick up the Renaissance, Violet Striker and Neutral Ground weapon camos through a separate in-game return event running during the season. On Resurgence maps specifically, a Weapon Trade Station and Drop Kits give squads more ways to reroute loadouts mid-match, and the vehicle pool across both new maps includes the Sedan, Grizzly, Polaris DAGOR, Cargo Truck, LTV, Aston Martin Dreadnought, Helo and RHIB.
8. Quick Tips for Jumping Into Season 1
- If you're still on PS4 or Xbox One, you'll need to move to a current-gen console, PC or Switch 2 before you can load into Warzone at all — link the same Activision account to keep your progress.
- Try Rally Point first if you want to learn Zodiac's layout without circle pressure — it's built specifically as a low-stakes way to practice before dropping into Loaded Resurgence or ranked play.
- Check the Legacy tab before you load into a match if a favorite weapon from Black Ops 7 or Modern Warfare III seems to be missing — it hasn't been removed, it's just been moved and some Blueprints need Armory XP to unlock.
- Keep an eye out for Grabber Drones and Zipline Launchers in enemy hands on Zodiac's tighter rooftops — both can be used against you just as easily as they're used offensively.
