Fortnite Crew's Big December 5 Changes: V-Bucks Tiers, OG Pass Ending and Everything Else Explained
Fortnite Crew's subscription is getting a major overhaul on December 5, 2026: new V-Bucks loyalty tiers worth up to 1,600 a month, the end of the recurring Crew Pack outfit, and the retirement of the Fortnite OG Pass. Here's everything that's changing and what stays the same.
Epic Games has confirmed a major overhaul of the Fortnite Crew subscription, and it takes effect on December 5, 2026. The headline change is more V-Bucks every month, but the update also ends two long-running perks: the monthly Crew Pack outfit and the Fortnite OG Pass. Here's exactly what changes, what stays the same, and what current subscribers should know before the switch flips.
1. What's Actually Changing on December 5
Fortnite Crew is Epic's $11.99-a-month subscription that bundles the current Battle Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass and Rocket Pass Premium with a monthly allotment of V-Bucks and an exclusive Crew Pack outfit. According to Epic's official announcement on the Fortnite news page, three things change starting December 5:
- Monthly V-Bucks grants increase and now scale with how long you've been subscribed.
- The recurring Crew Pack outfit is discontinued after the December 2026 pack.
- The Fortnite OG Pass, previously bundled with Crew, ends alongside Chapter 1: OG Season X.
Epic says current subscribers don't need to do anything to keep their subscription active when the changes roll out — the new terms simply apply automatically from that date.
2. The New V-Bucks Tier System Explained
The biggest practical change is how many V-Bucks subscribers receive each month. Instead of a flat amount, Fortnite Crew now uses four loyalty tiers based on consecutive months subscribed:
- Core (1–2 consecutive months): 1,000 V-Bucks
- Bronze (3–5 consecutive months): 1,200 V-Bucks
- Silver (6–11 consecutive months): 1,400 V-Bucks
- Gold (12+ consecutive months): 1,600 V-Bucks
That's up from the previous flat grant of 800 V-Bucks a month, so even new subscribers starting at the Core tier come out ahead once the changes land. Your tier shows up in the in-game Crew tab once December 5 arrives, and it's based on how long you've held an active, uninterrupted subscription.
Resubscribing After a Gap
If your subscription lapses, Epic is giving a grace window: resubscribing between December 6 and December 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET restores your tier to match your most recent continuous subscription streak from the past 12 months, rather than dropping you all the way back to Core. Resubscribe after that window closes, though, and you start over at the Core tier.
3. The End of the Monthly Crew Pack Outfit
Since Fortnite Crew launched, subscribers have received a new, subscription-exclusive outfit — the Crew Pack — every month alongside a handful of cosmetic extras. That recurring outfit drop ends with the December 2026 pack, which will be the last one Epic releases under the current model.
Anything you've already unlocked isn't going anywhere: Epic confirmed that Legacy Styles tied to Crew Packs you already own will still be granted normally. It's the ongoing monthly release that's being discontinued, not your existing locker.
The timing lines up with Fortnite's current Treasure Hunters mini-season, the One Piece crossover bridging Chapter 7 Season 4 and Chapter 8. Crew subscribers get that season's Battle Pass included as part of their subscription for as long as it runs, separate from the outfit changes below.
4. Why the Fortnite OG Pass Is Ending Too
The second major cut is the Fortnite OG Pass, which has run alongside the OG Islands rotation reviving classic Battle Royale seasons and content. Epic's announcement ties its conclusion to the end of Chapter 1: OG Season X, describing it as a deliberate send-off for the OG era rather than a quiet cancellation.
Epic has said a new era of Fortnite OG is planned to return in late 2027, though no further details on its format or whether it will be bundled with Crew again have been announced. For now, subscribers should expect OG Pass access to stop once the December 5 changes take hold.
If you've been leaning on Crew for Battle Pass access across both the main Chapter 7 track and OG seasons, it's worth checking your in-game progress on both passes before the cutover, since OG Season X won't be coming back around until Epic's next planned revival.
5. What Isn't Changing
It's easy to read "big changes" and assume the subscription is getting worse across the board, but several core pieces of Fortnite Crew are staying exactly as they are:
- Price: Fortnite Crew remains $11.99 USD per month. There's no price increase tied to this update.
- Pass bundle: The current Battle Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass and Rocket Pass Premium are all still included with an active subscription.
- XP boosts: Crew subscribers keep their +20% XP bonus, and squadmates who aren't subscribed still get a +10% XP boost while playing in a party with a Crew member. Epic has clarified the two bonuses don't stack on top of each other.
In other words, Epic is swapping one kind of reward (a guaranteed exclusive outfit every month) for another (scaling V-Bucks that reward subscription length), rather than cutting value from the subscription outright.
6. How to Prepare Before December 5
There's no action required to keep an existing subscription running through the transition, but a few housekeeping steps are worth doing before the date hits:
Check Your Current Streak
If you've been subscribed for close to a tier threshold — say, two months running toward Bronze, or eleven months running toward Gold — letting your subscription lapse even briefly before December 5 could reset that streak under the new system. Keeping your subscription uninterrupted protects your starting tier.
Spend or Save December's Pack Access
Since the December 2026 Crew Pack is confirmed as the last of its kind, subscribers who want to claim it should make sure their subscription is active when it goes live rather than waiting until after the cutover.
Finish Up OG Season X Goals
With Fortnite OG not returning until late 2027 at the earliest, treat any remaining OG Season X challenges, cosmetics or Battle Pass tiers as a closing window rather than something to get back to later.
7. Quick-Tips Recap
- Changes take effect December 5, 2026; the $11.99 price stays the same.
- Monthly V-Bucks rise to 1,000–1,600 depending on your Core/Bronze/Silver/Gold tier, up from a flat 800.
- The recurring Crew Pack outfit ends after December's pack; Legacy Styles for packs you already own are unaffected.
- The Fortnite OG Pass ends with Chapter 1: OG Season X; the next OG era is planned for late 2027.
- Resubscribe by December 31, 2026 to keep your prior tier if your subscription lapses; later resubscriptions restart at Core.
- Battle Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass, Rocket Pass Premium and the Crew XP boosts are all unaffected.
