Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 Patch Notes — Movement, Weapon and Platform Changes Explained
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1's official patch notes go well beyond the new Hajin and Zodiac maps: PS4 and Xbox One support ends, Nintendo Switch 2 support begins, and a full movement and weapon tuning pass reshapes how fights play out. Here's every verified change, mechanic by mechanic.
Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 1 update is more than two new maps bolted onto the battle royale. Alongside Hajin and Zodiac, Raven Software shipped a full movement rework, a sweeping set of weapon tuning changes, a reshuffled perk and killstreak lineup, and a platform cut that ends Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for good. This guide breaks down exactly what changed in the patch notes themselves — the numbers behind the slide tweaks, the new guns, and why matches are running shorter — rather than just the headline features.
Everything below is sourced from Call of Duty's own Season 1 announcement and the official patch notes published alongside the November 5 update. If you want the map and mode breakdown first, our rundown of Hajin and Zodiac covers that side of the launch in more depth.
1. When Warzone Season 1 Went Live
Season 1 launched at 9:00 PM PT on November 5, 2026 (midnight ET / 0000 on November 6) across every supported platform. It's the update that fully folds Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 into Warzone, following MW4's own standalone launch on October 23. For background on that release, our Modern Warfare 4 release guide covers the editions and what Infinity Ward originally promised for Warzone integration.
One notable restriction at launch: Private Match is disabled for the entirety of Season 1 and is scheduled to return in Season 2.
2. Warzone Drops PS4 and Xbox One, Adds Nintendo Switch 2
The biggest structural change in the patch notes isn't a map — it's a platform cut. Starting with Season 1, Call of Duty: Warzone is no longer playable on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Activision says progress carries over automatically for anyone who logs in with the same linked Activision account on a current-generation platform, but the older consoles themselves are locked out.
In the same update, Warzone launches on Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time, putting the full free-to-play battle royale on a Nintendo platform alongside PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
3. A Full Movement Overhaul
Raven Software rebuilt several core movement systems for Season 1 rather than just tuning numbers around the edges.
Sprint, Slide and Jump
- Tactical Sprint returns for all Operators, adding roughly 0.5 m/s of extra speed, sustainable for 4 seconds at full stamina, with no stamina cost while a melee weapon is equipped.
- The consecutive-jump slowdown window was reduced by 150 milliseconds.
- Slide's minimum sprint requirement was cut by 50 milliseconds, its cooldown reduced by 400 milliseconds, and the slide-to-jump delay shortened by 200 milliseconds.
- Slide-to-jump height penalty was reduced by 25%, and both the ADS slide penalty and the slide-to-sprint delay were removed outright.
Dives, Parachutes and Ascenders
Dive-to-fire speed was improved, parachute landing momentum loss was reduced, and ascender dismount speed was increased. Combined with the sprint and slide changes, the patch notes describe the goal as faster, more fluid rotations between fights rather than a straight speed buff.
4. Every New Weapon and the Global Weapon Tuning
Season 1 adds two new guns outright: the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 submachine gun, each arriving with its own Apex attachment (Cronen Helix Mk. II and CSG Crossfire, respectively). Two existing weapons also picked up new Apex attachments — Hyeon Auto for the Hyeon Burst, and Kastov 545 for the Kastov 762.
Beyond the new guns, the patch notes list a broad set of global tuning changes that affect gunfights across every weapon class:
- Bullet velocity was improved on base weapons and several attachments.
- Flinch, weapon bob, screen shake, reticle bounce and hip-fire weapon motion were all reduced.
- Weapon swap and raise speeds were increased, and ADS movement speed was increased.
- Knockdown was removed from the RPG-7, the Astaroth .57 and some Apex attachments.
- Knife ready speeds were adjusted, and sniper ADS and rechambering speeds were tuned.
- Battle Royale redeploy loadouts now match whatever weapon is currently in the Gulag, instead of a fixed default.
Three new Weapon Augment types — Breacher, Sharpshooter and Gunslinger — were also added this season, found at "Fly Buy" Buy Stations.
Legacy Weapons From Four Games
Weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 remain usable in Warzone Season 1, but they can't be edited in Gunsmith and are missing several newer MW4-specific features. For players who built loadouts around Black Ops 7's weapon pool, our breakdown of Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 6's new weapons is still a useful reference for what's being carried forward.
5. New Perks, Killstreaks and Field Upgrades
The perk system keeps its four-slot structure: 15 Base Perks spread across three slots, plus three Elite Perks — Athleticism, Fieldcraft and Phantom — in a fourth slot, with only one Elite Perk equippable at a time. Season 1 adds four new Base Perks: Incognito, Stocked, Deft Hands and Wingman. Specialist also returns this season, though it doesn't include access to Elite Perks.
Six new Killstreaks were added — Artillery Beacon, Bomb Glider, Bombing Run, Combat Drone, Impact Warhead and Insight — joining three returning ones. The patch notes specifically flag that Bomb Glider's damage was reduced to below 300, and that Counter UAV can now be destroyed with a single rocket launcher hit (Grenade Launchers don't count).
On the Field Upgrade side, five are new this season: Zipline Launcher, Grabber Drone, Perk Supply Box, Smoke Wall and SAM Airburst Turret. Two new pieces of throwable equipment also arrived — the Tripwire Mine (lethal) and Screamer Mine (tactical) — alongside adjustments to Claymore's damage profile and activation range, a small damage increase for Semtex, and loot-feed notifications when a Throwing Knife lands a kill.
6. Faster Matches: Loot, Circles and Economy Changes
Raven Software deliberately shortened match pacing this season. Battle Royale and Resurgence circle timings were tightened, cutting overall match length by nearly 5.5 minutes according to the patch notes. High Value Loot Zones were also reduced from three per match down to just one, with its location randomized each game.
The Contract Cash Multiplier was removed entirely, Most Wanted's maximum duration was shortened, and two contract rewards were swapped out: Recon is replaced by the new Insight killstreak, and Scavenger is replaced by the new Perk Supply Box field upgrade. Buy Station upgrades can now also be unlocked through Supply Run Contracts.
Equipment placement was capped too — players can now only have two placed items per equipment category active at once; dropping a third automatically clears the oldest.
7. Rally Point: Zodiac's New No-Gas Mode
Among the limited-time modes launching with Season 1, Rally Point stands out mechanically. It's a 20-player mode set on the new Zodiac map that removes the gas circle entirely, allows unlimited Resurgence respawns, supports drop-in/drop-out matchmaking, and includes a purchasable Nuke. It sits alongside Massive Resurgence (120 players on Hajin) and Loaded Resurgence (44 players on Zodiac or Rebirth Island) as the season's rotating limited-time options, with Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers scheduled to arrive mid-season.
Quick Tips Recap
- Still on PS4 or Xbox One? You'll need to move to a current-gen platform or PC to keep playing Warzone — progress carries over if you use the same linked Activision account.
- Expect noticeably faster rotations: the slide, sprint and jump changes all reduce downtime between movements.
- Redeploy loadouts now mirror your current Gulag weapon, so there's less reason to avoid the Gulag gun entirely.
- Only two placed equipment items per category persist at once — plan multi-mine setups accordingly.
- If you want a faster, chaotic match, Rally Point on Zodiac skips the gas circle altogether.
