What is Byrdle?

Byrdle is a free daily word game at byrdle.net built for choir singers and church musicians and named after the Tudor composer William Byrd. It plays exactly like Wordle — green for a letter in the right place, yellow for a letter in the word but elsewhere, grey for a miss — but every answer comes from the world of choral music: voice parts and note values, movements of the Mass, Latin texts, organ terms and the surnames of composers from Tallis to Rutter. Answers are 5 or 6 letters long and you always get one more guess than there are letters. One new word appears at midnight local time, numbered consecutively from the game's launch on January 12, 2022, and the share text shows your result as rows of green, yellow and white circles.

Byrdle is an independent daily game made for the choral community. This page is an independent reference — not affiliated with byrdle.net — that verifies and publishes each day's answer, with a short plain-English gloss, for players who get stuck.
