Apex Legends Marked Midseason Patch: Legend Changes, Weapon Buffs and the Split 2 Hotfix Explained
Apex Legends' September 14 "Marked" midseason patch reworked Conduit, Fuse, Catalyst and Bloodhound, nerfed Axle and Seer, and adjusted several weapons — followed by a September 21 hotfix fixing Lifeline's upgrade order and Wildcard's crossover weapon spawns. Here's everything that changed, plus what's next for ranked.
Apex Legends is deep into Split 2 of Season 30: Marked, and Respawn Entertainment has kept the changes coming — a full midseason balance patch on September 14, a new competitive ladder cycle that kicked off today, and a small but notable hotfix just yesterday. If you've logged in over the last week and noticed your favorite Legend feels different, or you've run into the Wildcard mode's crossover weapons acting up, here's what actually changed and why.
1. What Changed in Apex Legends This Week
The short version: Respawn shipped the "Marked" midseason patch on September 14, 2026, which opened the door to Split 2 the following day. That patch reworked several Legends, adjusted a handful of weapons, tightened loot pools, and rolled out a new anti-cheat system aimed at unauthorized controller hardware. Then, on September 21, a smaller hotfix corrected two specific bugs — one affecting Lifeline's upgrade menu, the other affecting weapon spawns in the Street Fighter 6 crossover mode, Wildcard. Today, September 22, also marks the start of a new run of ranked ladder competitions that will play out through November 1.
2. The Marked Midseason Patch and Split 2, Explained
Season 30, subtitled "Marked," launched back in August with a Bloodhound rework and a reshaped World's Edge. The September 14 midseason patch is the season's big course-correction: it rebalances several Legends that either underperformed or ran too hot in Split 1, nudges a few long-range weapons, and cleans up more than 150 small quality-of-life issues, with World's Edge getting the bulk of the collision and geometry fixes. Split 2 itself began on September 15, resetting some competitive systems while keeping the map rotation for both public and ranked matches cycling between World's Edge, Olympus, and Broken Moon.
Alongside the balance work, the patch also refreshed the Battle Pass for Split 2, adding a new set of Ultimate-tier cosmetics tied to the season's hunter theme.

3. Legend Buffs: Conduit, Fuse, Catalyst and Bloodhound
Four Legends came out of the midseason patch stronger. Conduit gets a clearer shield-preview readout on her Tactical, a faster-deploying Ultimate with an orientation toggle, and jammers that spawn higher and closer together so they activate sooner. Her new Level 2 upgrades let her refire the Tactical with no cooldown for a short window, or trade a bigger jammer radius for extended enemy HUD jamming.
Fuse picked up a passive that grants 25% explosive damage resistance plus nearby ordnance highlighting, a Knuckle Jump option on his Tactical for extra mobility, and a faster-raising, better-arcing Ultimate. New upgrades let players choose between a wider Knuckle Cluster spread or bigger, enemy-sticking projectiles.
Catalyst saw her Tactical cooldown drop from 20 to 15 seconds, with taller spikes that now deal damage outright, and her Ultimate deploys much faster while no longer slowing or blinding her own teammates. Bloodhound rounds out the buffs with a slightly longer Tactical scan, a faster-fading snapshot, and an Ultimate whose cloak now survives ring damage.
4. Legend Nerfs: Axle and Seer Get Toned Down
Axle takes the heaviest hit of the patch: his Tactical launch speed drops from 750 to 700, his Ultimate's health pool falls from 200 to 150, its cooldown rises from 90 to 120 seconds, and the stun duration it applies is cut from 1.5 seconds down to just 0.25 seconds. That's a substantial reduction in how disruptive his kit can be in a single engagement. Seer gets a smaller but still meaningful change — the turn-slow effect on his Tactical scan has been removed entirely, so spotted enemies keep full mobility while marked.
5. Weapon and Loot Adjustments
On the weapons side, the Triple Take gets a faster ADS fire rate and one more round in its blue magazine (8 to 9). The Bocek Compound Bow can now stockpile up to 60 arrows instead of 40, with explosive arrows per energize rising from 7 to 10 (the Sparrow's Quiver hop-up scales those numbers up further). The Charge Rifle hits harder at range, with max-distance damage up from 99 to 110 past 200 meters, and its selectfire damage penalty shrinks from 40% to 25%. The Executioner hop-up is also cheaper to unlock, down from 375 to 275 crafting points.
Loot pools also shifted: healing items are more common in the pool used before bins reset, ammo is slightly scarcer, bin-reset logic was tightened to cut down on empty bins, and Weapon Assist now covers every base weapon instead of a limited selection.
6. A Bigger Anti-Cheat Crackdown
Respawn also rolled out new detection systems specifically targeting unauthorized controller hardware and software, enforced across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2 alike. Accounts flagged by the new systems are subject to bans on review, part of a broader, ongoing push against third-party input devices that give players an unfair edge.
7. The September 21 Hotfix: Lifeline and Wildcard Fixes
A week after the midseason patch, Respawn pushed a small hotfix on September 21 to clean up two issues players had flagged. The official patch note describes two fixes: it "fixed a bug that switched the order of Lifeline's upgrades," restoring her upgrade menu to the intended sequence, and it corrected weapon spawns in Wildcard — the ongoing Street Fighter 6 crossover mode — so "the correct Mythic 30-30 and L-STAR now spawn appropriately" instead of the wrong variants appearing in matches. If you've followed the Apex Legends x Street Fighter 6 crossover event, this is the fix that gets Wildcard's signature weapons behaving as intended.
8. Ranked Ladder Events Are Live Through November
Today, September 22, also marks the start of a new stretch of ranked ladder competitions — six separate cycles running through November 1, 2026, each lasting five to six days. Combined with the ongoing map rotation and the freshly tuned Legend roster, it's a good window to climb if you've been sitting out ranked while the balance settled. Other shooters are going through their own seasonal shake-ups right now too — Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone just went through their own Season 06 relaunch, and Fortnite is mid-way through a similarly map-and-mechanics-heavy season update, so if you split your time across battle royales, this is a busy month all around.
9. Quick-Tips Recap
- If Axle was your go-to for tactical stuns, expect much shorter stuns and a slower, weaker Ultimate — lean more on his mobility than his disruption now.
- Seer players can scan targets without slowing them, so follow up scans immediately rather than relying on the old speed penalty to close distance.
- Bocek users can commit to a full engagement without running dry as quickly, thanks to the bigger arrow stockpile.
- Charge Rifle is a genuine long-range option again — the damage boost past 200 meters is significant.
- If your Lifeline upgrades looked out of order or Wildcard handed you the wrong 30-30 or L-STAR variant, update to the latest patch — both are fixed as of September 21.
