VALORANT VCT 2027 Explained: New Competitive Integrity Rules, Full Season Schedule and All 32 Partner Teams
Riot has confirmed new competitive integrity rules, the full 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour calendar, and all 32 partnered teams for next season. Here's everything officially announced, in one place.
Riot Games has laid out how competitive VALORANT will work in 2027, and the picture has three parts: a tighter set of rules to protect competitive integrity, a full calendar of global events, and a new list of partnered organizations. Here is what Riot has actually confirmed, in one place.
1. Why Riot Is Tightening the Rules Now
On November 5, 2026, Riot Games published "Protecting Competitive Integrity in VCT 2027," a policy update tied directly to the move to an all-tournament, open-qualifier format for the 2027 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT). With more teams able to enter through Open Qualifiers (OQs) and online play returning as a regular part of the competitive path, Riot says it needed a more detailed rulebook covering anti-cheat, player eligibility, streaming, and conduct. Championship Points details are still being finalized and Riot says more will come "in the coming weeks."
2. Anti-Cheat and Player Verification
Riot restates a "zero tolerance policy for cheating," which also covers anyone who enables or assists cheating. The specific requirements for 2027:
- All competitors must be Vanguard compliant (Riot's kernel-level anti-cheat check).
- Players must have reached Ascendant or higher to compete in Open Qualifiers.
- Accounts must be in good standing: no active ban, Game Ban, Vanguard Intervention, Ranked Restriction, or Comms Restriction in the past 30 days, and no Ranked queue restriction during enrollment or competition.
- Riot can apply additional account review as teams advance further in the bracket.
Investigations draw on Vanguard detection, account history, match evidence, and dedicated tournament investigations, with recordings and communications reviewed where monitoring access allows. Riot is explicit that community speculation is not a valid reporting channel — suspected violations need to go through official tournament channels, and a dedicated compliance and competitive operations team handles the review. Confirmed violations found after a match can still lead to disqualification or competitive suspension, decided by tournament officials.
3. Protections Scale With the Stakes
Rather than applying the same level of scrutiny everywhere, Riot is layering integrity measures by stage:
- Open Qualifiers: Vanguard protection, post-match reporting, and retroactive enforcement, with additional account security requirements still under consideration.
- Open Play-Ins: A higher baseline, with individual regions able to add their own monitoring, verification, and oversight.
- Open Playoffs: The full integrity framework becomes mandatory — voice monitoring, player point-of-view (POV) recordings, match-area cameras, and extra anti-cheat checks.
Tournament officials retain the right to run extra checks at any stage, including reviewing a player's setup, requesting recordings, requiring a live match-area stream, or checking communications where the rules allow it.
4. Streaming, Spectators and Outside Communication
Players can livestream their own Open Qualifier matches, but starting with OQs every player POV stream needs a minimum two-minute broadcast delay. Teams running their own multi-POV broadcasts have to apply that same delay to every stream. Outside creators can co-stream POV feeds for watch parties, but only with prior approval from tournament officials. Match VODs and voice comms can still be published by teams and players afterward. Coaches can talk to players freely in the early stages; in the later Cup qualification stages, that coach communication is monitored under the existing VCT rulebook, and Riot says it will keep reviewing these policies through the season.
5. Online Match Rules and Technical Disputes
With more of the path back to online qualifying, Riot spelled out who's responsible for what. Players are responsible for their own connection and setup. Technical pause allowances and disconnect procedures are defined in the Online Play Rulebook, and a match can be paused, resumed, or ordered to continue depending on the situation. Equipment problems need to be reported immediately through official channels. Server selection follows a set procedure based on player location, but Riot does not guarantee identical latency for every competitor — and tournament-wide pauses won't be used to resolve a single player's individual dispute.
6. Conduct Standards and Eligibility
The same conduct rules apply whether a player is a long-time pro or a first-time Open Qualifier entrant. Banned behavior explicitly includes match-fixing, manipulation (including spot-fixing or deliberately underperforming), betting-related misconduct, and conflicts of interest. Teams can be sanctioned for the actions of owners, players, coaches, and staff, and pros can be held liable for the conduct of relatives or affiliates connected to a violation. Riot says it will not publicly announce every investigation or confirm every allegation.
For eligibility, the headline requirements are:
- Rank: every roster member needs a peak of Ascendant or higher within the last six months.
- Residency: at least three of five starting players must come from the team's home region, with some exceptions.
- Roster continuity: teams generally need to keep at least three of five players between Open Qualifiers to retain progress and Championship Points.
Riot's suggested pre-OQ checklist: read your region's rulebook, confirm your account and roster meet the standards above, run a device security check, test your connection and peripherals, understand the streaming and coaching rules, and know how to reach tournament officials if something goes wrong.
7. The Full VCT 2027 Calendar
All of this sits on top of a new season structure that Riot detailed in "VCT 2027: The Global Tour." The league format is gone; 2027 is built entirely around Opens, Kickoff, Cups, Masters, and Champions, spanning more than 50 tournaments and 15 cities over the year. Open Qualifiers for Kickoff begin in November 2026, ahead of the confirmed international event schedule:
- Kickoff — Jan 14–Feb 7 — São Paulo, Berlin, Bangkok, Hangzhou
- Masters — Feb 20–Mar 3 — Seoul
- Cup — Apr 29–May 23 — Mexico City, Warsaw, Manila, Wuhan
- Masters — Jun 5–Jun 20 — Valencia
- Cup — Aug 5–Aug 29 — Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul, Tokyo, Shanghai
- Champions & Game Changers Championship — Sep 16–Oct 10 — Austin
Open Qualifiers run continuously underneath these events, feeding into Open Play-Ins and Open Playoffs ahead of each major stop. Riot's framing is that any team, partnered or not, can fight its way into Cups and Masters purely on results, and the Game Changers program folds into Champions rather than running as a separate season-long circuit.
8. Meet the 32 VCT 2027 Partner Teams
Alongside the calendar, Riot confirmed its partner organizations for 2027 in "Introducing the VCT 2027 Partner Teams." Riot says more than 100 organizations expressed interest, with finalists interviewed by both global and regional esports leads. Selection criteria covered community growth and resonance, business sustainability, operational infrastructure, and competitive success. Eight organizations were chosen in each of four territories — Americas, China, EMEA, and Pacific:
- Americas: 100 Thieves, G2 Esports, KRÜ Esports, Leviatán, LOUD, MIBR, NRG, Sentinels
- China: All Gamers, Bilibili Gaming, EDward Gaming, JD Gaming, Trace Esports, TYLOO, Weibo Gaming, Xi Lai Gaming
- EMEA: BBL Esports, FNATIC, FUT Esports, Karmine Corp, Gentle Mates, Team Heretics, Team Liquid, Team Vitality
- Pacific: Crazy Raccoon, Full Sense, GAM Esports, Gen.G Esports, Paper Rex, Rex Regum Qeon, T1, Zeta Division
Partnership runs on a two-year renewable cycle. Partner teams get annual financial support, additional revenue from in-game digital goods like Team and Season Capsules and the Championship bundle, and incentive rewards tied to growing VALORANT esports. Critically, partnership isn't a free pass through the whole season: partner organizations get direct qualification into VCT Kickoff, but after that they compete against Open Qualifier teams on equal footing, since results alone decide who advances to Cups, Masters, and Champions.
9. What This Means If You Want to Compete
For aspiring competitive players, the practical takeaway is that the road into VCT 2027 runs through Open Qualifiers no matter who you are. You'll need to hit Ascendant or higher, keep your account clean of bans and restrictions for 30 days before entering, and be ready for progressively heavier scrutiny — voice monitoring, POV recordings, and match-area cameras — the deeper you advance. If you're building toward this, it's worth getting comfortable with ranked play at a high level; our breakdown of every VALORANT map's signature mechanics is a good place to sharpen map-specific strategy before you queue into an Open Qualifier.
