The Fortnite Global Championship 2026 is almost here. On September 26 and 27, the world's top 50 duos will fly into Antwerp, Belgium for the biggest event on the competitive Fortnite calendar, battling across 12 matches at the Lotto Arena for a $2,000,000 prize pool. Here is everything confirmed about the event: the schedule, the format, how teams qualified, and who is favored to lift the trophy.
This is the first time competitive Fortnite's marquee event has been held in Belgium, and it caps off a season that already switched the format back to Duos after 2025's Trios experiment. Below is a full breakdown of the who, what, when and where.
1. What Is the Fortnite Global Championship?
The Fortnite Global Championship (often shortened to FNGC or Fortnite GC) is the season finale of the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS), Epic Games' year-long competitive circuit. It is organized in partnership with esports company BLAST and brings together the best-performing duos from every region for a LAN (in-person) finals. The 2026 edition is the culmination of a season that Epic and BLAST have billed as offering more than $10,000,000 in total FNCS prize money.
2. When and Where: Antwerp's Lotto Arena
The Global Championship runs September 26–27, 2026 at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Belgium, marking the first time the event has been held in the country. Doors open at 2 PM CEST both days, the broadcast begins at 4 PM CEST, and the first match of each day starts at 5 PM CEST. Each day features six matches, with a new Global Champion duo crowned at the end of the second day.
Organizers describe Antwerp's central position in the Benelux region as ideal for fans traveling in from Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany, and both days of the event are reported sold out.
3. Format and Prize Pool: 50 Duos, 12 Matches, $2,000,000
Fifty duos — 100 players in total — will compete across 12 high-stakes matches over the two days, with standings determined by Epic's usual placement-plus-elimination points system used throughout FNCS. The winning team takes home the largest share of the $2,000,000 prize pool, with the rest distributed down the standings.
This is a notable shift from last year: the 2025 Global Championship was contested in Trios (three-player squads) in Lyon, France, where the European trio of Egor "SwizzY" Luciko, Aleksa "Queasy" Cvetkovic and Andrejs "Merstach" Piratovs won it with a 47-point final margin and a $2,001,000 prize pool, in front of a peak audience Epic reported as the largest for a Fortnite event since the Fortnite World Cup. For 2026, FNCS reverted the format back to Duos, so Antwerp will crown a two-player champion team instead.
4. How to Watch
The Global Championship will be broadcast live on Fortnite's official Twitch and YouTube channels on both September 26 and 27, starting at 4 PM CEST. Viewers who tune into the Twitch broadcast for at least 30 minutes on either day are eligible for a free in-game Twitch Drop cosmetic tied to the event.
5. The Road to Antwerp: How Teams Qualified
Spots at the Global Championship were earned over months of competition through the FNCS Majors and their in-person Summit and Finals events, plus Last Chance Qualifiers for teams that narrowly missed direct qualification.
Major 1 Summit — Düsseldorf
The season's first LAN, the FNCS Major 1 Summit, was held in Düsseldorf, Germany from May 29–31, 2026, where 75 duos competed in person. Austrian player Taylor-Petrik "vic0" Gatschelhofer and his Russian teammate Danila "Malibuca" Iakovenko, both representing esports organization BIG, won the Summit with 406 points and 33 eliminations across eight matches, earning a $250,000 grand prize alongside their Global Championship berth. It was also at this event, in Düsseldorf, that the Antwerp venue for the Global Championship was first announced.
Major 2 — Regional Finals
The Major 2 Grand Finals ran August 1–2, 2026 across each competitive region. In Europe, Sky and Scroll backed up their Major 1 win with another regional title, while in NA Central, Peterbot and Pollo pulled ahead late on the first day to take that region's Major 2 crown. Results across Major 2's other regions, along with the season's Last Chance Qualifiers, filled out the rest of the 50-duo field heading to Belgium.
6. Storylines to Watch
With Duos back as the format, several of the season's most consistent teams arrive in Antwerp as favorites. Vic0 and Malibuca head in with the credibility of a Major 1 Summit win and back-to-back strong LAN results, while Sky and Scroll's repeat regional title in Europe makes them one of the field's most proven duos this year. North America's contingent is led by Major 2 NA Central champions Peterbot and Pollo. With 21 of the 50 qualified duos coming from Europe against 14 from NA Central per regional breakdowns reported ahead of the event, the region is expected to be well-represented on the final standings, continuing a trend from 2025's Lyon event.

7. The Trophy
As with the 2025 event, the Global Championship's trophy comes from Thomas Lyte, a London goldsmith and silversmith firm that has also crafted trophies for the Esports World Cup and the Rocket League World Championship. Their Fortnite Global Championship design uses gold-plated arrowhead details in a laurel-leaf arrangement spiraling around the tournament's blue-and-gold FNCS crest, handcrafted in the firm's London workshop.
8. Beyond the Battle Royale Stage
The Global Championship is the highest-profile event of the season, but it lands in the middle of a busy stretch for Fortnite overall. The same v42.20 update that shaped this season's competitive meta also delivered the Kingdom Hearts crossover, bringing Sora, Riku, Kairi and Roxas into the item shop, and Chapter 7 Season 4 has separately featured a PAC-MAN collaboration with its own mechanics and limited-time modes. Neither collab affects the competitive ruleset, but both are part of why this Override season has been one of the most crossover-heavy in Fortnite's history.
