EA Sports FC 27 Launch Update: FUT Gallery, Hall of FUT and Chemistry Changes Explained
EA Sports FC 27 launched worldwide on September 25, 2026 with a major Launch Update covering Football Ultimate Team. Here's what changed: new Hall of FUT and Holographic items, reduced ICON/Hero chemistry links, the new Gallery collection system, Grounds Club Tournaments, and a new Manager Live Career Mode hub.
EA Sports FC 27 launched worldwide on September 25, 2026, and it arrived alongside a large Launch Update that reshapes several parts of Football Ultimate Team, adds a new Career Mode hub, and expands The Grounds with a Club Tournaments feature. This is not the same as the earlier Title Update 1.0.1, which was a bug-fix patch released September 22 ahead of launch — the Launch Update is EA's day-one content drop, and it changes how FUT rewards, chemistry, and cosmetics work.
Here is everything confirmed in EA's own Pitch Notes for the Launch Update, broken down section by section.
1. Football Ultimate Team: Bigger Rewards and a New Look
EA says Football Ultimate Team's core reward flow has been reworked for FC 27. Coin payouts from matches are described as "significantly higher" than FC 26's roughly 500–600 average, and Season Points can now be earned at a rate of 15–100 per eligible match, up to a daily cap of 850. EA also increased the number of tradeable rewards across modes, aiming to give players more flexibility on the Transfer Market.
On the Campaign side, weekly squads are smaller — around 15 players per week instead of the larger rosters from FC 26 — and the Campaign itself runs roughly five weeks shorter, with the freed-up time replaced by themed Series content throughout the year.
2. New Item Types: Hall of FUT and Holographic Cards
Two new card categories debut with the Launch Update. Hall of FUT is a new tier built around fan-favorite players from past FUT eras — EA's own Pitch Notes graphic lists returning names such as Balotelli, Hulk, David Luiz, Fellaini, Theo Walcott, and Antonio Valencia among the initial roster, obtainable through the Token Store rather than packs.
Holographic items are a new cosmetic finish rather than a separate rating tier. Regular Holographic variants can appear on items rated 87 OVR and below, while Pristine Holographic variants are reserved for 88+ OVR cards, and both can drop in regular packs.
EA also confirmed a streamlined approach to Squad Building Challenges: many SBCs now use an Item Score system instead of the traditional league/nation/rating requirement grids, and pack naming has been standardized into Mini, Small, Large, Jumbo, and Giant sizes. The old Common/Rare item distinction has been removed entirely.
3. Chemistry Adjustments Explained
Chemistry contributions from special item types were trimmed for FC 27. ICON items now contribute +1 to their nation link instead of the previous +2, and Hero items now contribute +1 to their league link instead of +2. The change is meant to reduce how easily a single ICON or Hero could "solve" an entire squad's chemistry on its own.
What This Means for Squad Building
- Squads built around a single ICON or Hero for "free" chemistry will need more supporting links from the same league or nation than before.
- Hybrid squads that lean on multiple leagues may find it slightly harder to hit maximum chemistry on Hero-anchored positions.
- Evolutions and consumables that adjust chemistry style remain unaffected by this specific change.
4. The Gallery: A New Collection System
FUT Gallery is a permanent collection feature introduced with FC 27. Players complete themed sets — EA says more than 100 are available at launch — to raise a Gallery Level, which unlocks milestone rewards ranging from Holographic Squad Foundations picks at Level 5 up to a 92+ Holographic Base Hero pick at Level 25. Gallery Tokens earned along the way can also be spent in a dedicated Token Store for cosmetics and Hall of FUT items.
5. The Grounds: Club Tournaments and Live Events
The Grounds — FC 27's open-world hub for Clubs and street football, limited to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2 — gains Club Tournaments, a Classic Stadium 11v11 format, alongside a refreshed Amps system that lets players experiment with different Pro builds, including Signature Amps inspired by real players. EA is also running limited-time live events inside The Grounds: a UEFA Champions League–themed European Nights event, and a Halloween-themed Screaming Grounds event.
6. Manager Live and Career Mode Additions
Career Mode adds a new Manager Live hub with rotating starter challenges — objectives like winning a set number of matches without a loss in the opening weeks of a season — plus support for community-created challenges that other players can browse and attempt. New ICON signings confirmed for Career Mode include Kaká, Antonio Di Natale, Alessandro Del Piero, Robin van Persie, and Raúl, alongside Creator Challenges that let players build and share their own custom scenarios.
7. Competitive Changes: Champions and Division Rivals
EA also adjusted the path into FUT Champions. Squad Battles results can now earn Champions Qualification Points alongside Division Rivals, and the previous requirement to reach Division 6 before qualifying for Champions has been removed, opening the format to a wider range of skill levels. A new Champions Token Store offers exclusive rewards, and Division Rivals reward tiers have been adjusted to pay out more Coins. EA also confirmed a TOTW Community Player feature for the first six weeks of the season, where the community votes on one player to add to that week's Team of the Week; voting opens each Tuesday and closes Monday at 11:59 p.m. Pacific.
8. Watch: The Official FC 27 Launch Trailer
EA published its official Launch Trailer for FC 27 alongside the worldwide release, giving a look at the presentation upgrades and The Grounds in action.
Quick Tips Recap
- The Launch Update is separate from Title Update 1.0.1 — 1.0.1 was a bug-fix patch from September 22, while the Launch Update is EA's day-one content and systems update.
- ICON and Hero chemistry contributions dropped from +2 to +1, so hybrid squads may need extra same-league or same-nation links to hit full chemistry.
- Hall of FUT items come from the Token Store, not packs, while Holographic and Pristine Holographic variants can drop in regular packs based on item rating.
- Gallery Level rewards run from a Squad Foundations pick at Level 5 up to a 92+ Holographic Hero pick at Level 25 — check the in-game Gallery tab regularly to track progress toward the next milestone.
- Squad Battles results now count toward Champions qualification, and the old Division 6 requirement is gone, so lower-division players have a new route into Champions.
