EA Sports FC 27 Archetypes Rebalanced: Attribute Point Changes Explained
EA Sports FC 27 is resetting Attribute Points on every Archetype in The Grounds and Clubs after admitting some Attributes had the wrong AP costs. Here's what changes per Archetype, when the October 22 reset lands, and the compensation players are getting.
EA Sports FC 27's Pro creators are getting a full Attribute Point reshuffle. On October 19, 2026, EA published a Developer Notes update admitting that "certain Attributes were being classified incorrectly" when it set the Attribute Point (AP) costs for every Archetype in The Grounds and Clubs, and it's fixing the mistake with a rebalance that lands on October 22. If you've already built out a Pro, your points are getting reset and you'll need to redistribute them under the new costs.
Here's exactly what EA changed, which Attributes got more expensive or cheaper on each of the 13 Archetypes, when the reset actually happens, and what you get for the trouble.
1. What EA Changed on October 19
EA's Developer Notes explain that the original AP costs for Archetype Attributes went out with some Attributes "classified incorrectly," which skewed how much AP it took to max out certain builds relative to others. The stated goal of the fix is to "preserve the balance of the game" and "accentuate Archetype identity" while the season is still young, so every Pro starts Season 2 on the same footing.
Two changes apply across the board rather than to a single Archetype:
- Attribute Point costs are adjusted for many Attributes across all 13 Archetypes — some go up, some go down, detailed section by section below.
- Attacking Positioning is no longer required for Archetype Specializations, which EA says frees up AP that was previously locked into that Attribute so you can spend it elsewhere.
2. The AP Reset: What Happens on October 22
The rebalance itself arrives in an update EA has scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2:00am Pacific Time. When it lands, Attribute Points for every Archetype on your Pro are reset — but your Archetype level and your total AP earned per Archetype stay exactly the same. Nothing is taken away; you simply have to redistribute the AP you've already earned across Attributes under the new cost table.
You won't need to wait for a menu to free up, either. EA confirmed resets no longer cost Grounds Coins or a reset consumable, and individual Attribute adjustments can already be made without resetting an entire build — from the in-world menu, from The Clubhouse, or while you're sitting in a Clubs or Rush lobby.
Because this is a mandatory reset rather than an optional one, EA is paying out compensation to every player who had already created a Pro and therefore has to redistribute: 5,000 Club Coins and a 1.75x Archetype XP (AXP) Multiplier for 6 matches. If you haven't built a Pro yet, the new costs simply apply from the moment you pick an Archetype.
3. A Quick Refresher: What The Grounds Actually Is
If you've been away from The Grounds since launch, here's the shape of it. Every session starts at The Terrace, a central hub that connects to three districts — Montclair (French urban football), Zeiza (Argentina's Potrero street-football culture) and Parkside (UK working-class football heritage) — plus dedicated access points for 11v11 Drop-in and Rush. The Terrace also leads into The Clubhouse, where Clubs now lives, and a store for Amps and Consumables.
Four in-game mentors guide new Pros through the mode: Alex Hunter (returning from The Journey) covers general player improvement, Kylian Mbappé focuses on small-sided play and creativity, Chloe Kelly centers on Kickabouts and grassroots-style games, and Paulo Dybala leads players toward Clubs and Stadium events. It's your Archetype choice, made when you first enter The Grounds, that determines which Attributes and PlayStyles your Pro leans on across every one of those activities — which is exactly why getting the AP costs right matters so much to EA.
4. Every Archetype's Attribute Point Changes
EA grouped the 13 Archetypes by position. Below, an up arrow means that Attribute now costs more AP than before October 22, and a down arrow means it costs less. If you're not sure which Archetype your current Pro uses, check the Archetypes tab in The Clubhouse before the reset lands so you know what to expect.
Goalkeepers
- Shot Stopper: up Acceleration, Short Passing, GK Positioning — down GK Reflexes.
- Sweeper Keeper: up Vision, Ball Control, Long Passing, GK Kicking, GK Reflexes — down GK Positioning.
Defenders
- Progressor: up Composure, Long Passing, Defensive Awareness, Standing Tackle — down Ball Control.
- Boss: up Strength, Heading Accuracy, Sliding Tackle — no Attributes got cheaper.
- Marauder: up Acceleration, Balance, Interceptions, Dribbling — down Stamina, Crossing.
Midfielders
- Disruptor: up Sprint Speed, Crossing, Sliding Tackle — down Aggression, Standing Tackle.
- Recycler: up Acceleration, Stamina, Aggression, Shot Power, Standing Tackle — down Strength, Interceptions, Defensive Awareness.
- Maestro: up Strength, Interceptions, Short Passing, Defensive Awareness, Long Shots — down Agility, Reactions, Ball Control, Long Passing.
- Creator: up Agility, Reactions, Composure, Ball Control, Long Passing — down Dribbling, Long Shots, Curve.
Attackers
- Spark: up Vision, Dribbling, Short Passing, Long Shots, Curve — down Sprint Speed, Agility.
- Magician: up Balance, Composure, Vision, Shot Power, Volleys — down Acceleration, Short Passing, Curve.
- Finisher: up Acceleration, Sprint Speed, Agility, Vision, Ball Control, Dribbling — down Reactions, Composure, Finishing, Volleys.
- Target: up Acceleration, Ball Control, Finishing, Short Passing, Curve — down Jumping, Strength, Heading Accuracy.
EA's notes don't list the new AP cost in raw numbers for each Attribute — only which ones moved up or down relative to where they were. The practical takeaway for most builds: Finisher and Maestro have the widest spread of changes, so if your Pro uses either, budget extra time after the reset to rework your allocation rather than assuming a quick top-up will cover it.
5. How AP Fits Into the Rest of Your Build
Attribute Points are only one layer of Pro progression in The Grounds, and it's worth knowing how the rest connects so you don't confuse a cheaper Attribute cost with a permanent boost. Masteries track long-term progress on each Archetype and hand out permanent Attribute bonuses at milestone levels that apply across every build you use — reaching Level 10 with Finisher, for example, permanently adds +1 Finishing and +1 Composure to all your Archetypes. Those Mastery bonuses are untouched by this rebalance.
Amps are the other lever: temporary items that boost your active Archetype for a set number of matches. You can equip up to three at once — two Standard Amps (Tier 1 and Tier 2 attribute boosts) plus one Signature Amp (Tier 3 or Tier 4, which add PlayStyles and Perks on top of attribute boosts). Amps apply in stadium matches and in-world Rush, and you earn them through Objectives, Live Events, Campaigns, season progression and The Grounds Store. None of that changes on October 22 either — only the AP cost of your base Attribute allocation does.
6. Clubs Rides on the Same Archetype System
The rebalance also touches Clubs, since Clubs now lives inside The Grounds and your Pro's Archetype carries over directly into 11v11 Club Tournaments, Leagues and Playoffs. EA's footnote on the update specifically flags that the changes apply "to The Grounds and Clubs" together — there's no separate Clubs-only AP system to track. If your Club relies on a particular Archetype composition (a Boss at centre-back, a Creator running midfield), expect your teammates' effectiveness in those roles to shift slightly once everyone redistributes their points.
7. How to Prepare Before October 22
- Check your current Archetype and level in the Archetypes tab so you know your AP total going in — it won't change, only where you can spend it.
- Note which Attributes matter most for how you actually play that Archetype, since the reset wipes your current allocation and you'll be rebuilding from scratch.
- Don't rush to spend compensation AXP the moment the update lands — the 1.75x AXP Multiplier is good for 6 matches, so use it once you've already settled on your new Attribute spread rather than burning it while you're still experimenting.
- If you use multiple Archetypes across Clubs, Rush and Career Mode Rush, remember every one of the 13 resets, not just your main.
8. Quick Recap
- AP costs change across all 13 Archetypes on October 22, 2026 at 2:00am PT, with no total-level or total-AP loss.
- Attacking Positioning is no longer a required spend for Archetype Specializations.
- Pros who already redistributed points get 5,000 Club Coins plus a 1.75x AXP Multiplier for 6 matches.
- Masteries and Amps are unaffected — only base Attribute Point costs are changing.
- The change applies to Clubs as well as solo Grounds play, since both run on the same Archetype system.
