Quick Summary

Remedy has revealed Control Resonant's first post-launch roadmap: a New Game++ mode arriving in October that lets players chain runs without losing progress, a full Photo Mode in November, and more cosmetics for Dylan Faden down the line.

Remedy Entertainment's Control Resonant has only been out since September 24, but the studio has already told players what's coming next. A day after launch, Remedy published its first post-launch roadmap for the game, confirming a New Game++ mode for October, a full Photo Mode for November, and more cosmetic options for protagonist Dylan Faden down the line.

Here's exactly what Remedy has confirmed, when to expect it, and what it means if you've already finished your first run through a paranormally warped Manhattan.

1. Why Control Resonant Needed a Roadmap So Soon

Control Resonant launched worldwide on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a Mac version to follow later in the year. It became Remedy's best-performing launch on Steam to date, drawing over 34,000 concurrent players in its opening days — roughly four times the peak of the original Control — and holding a "Very Positive" user rating from the vast majority of its early Steam reviews. Critic scores landed a little more mixed across platforms, and reviews have generally praised the melee-focused combat built around Dylan's shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant, even where some flagged repetition over a roughly 25-hour campaign — a split we broke down in more detail in our look at how critics and players reacted to the launch.

With that kind of reception, Remedy used its community update to reassure players that features missing at launch — most notably Photo Mode — hadn't been cut, just delayed so the team could focus on stability first.

2. A Quick Refresher: Who Is Dylan Faden?

For anyone jumping in without having played the original Control, Resonant puts you in control of Dylan Faden rather than his sister Jesse. Set years after the first game, Dylan is released from the Federal Bureau of Control's custody to help contain a new supernatural crisis spreading through Manhattan, one tied to a corrupting force called the Mold as well as the returning Hiss. Along the way he's also searching for Jesse, who has gone missing. Remedy has described the game as its "most expansive" to date, built around an open-ended version of the city rather than the more contained Oldest House setting of the original.

3. New Game++ Arrives in October

The headline addition on Remedy's roadmap is New Game++, planned for release in October 2026. Control Resonant already ships with a New Game+ mode that lets players start a second playthrough with their unlocked abilities and gear intact, but that mode currently only supports one additional run before resetting.

New Game++ removes that ceiling. According to Remedy, players will be able to chain New Game+ runs together indefinitely without losing prior progress, effectively turning NG+ into an ongoing mode rather than a one-time bonus. That matters most for anyone chasing endgame builds around the Aberrant's various forms, since it means testing higher-tier gear no longer requires wiping a save file to start over.

Remedy has not published an exact release date within October, only the month, so treat any specific calendar date you see elsewhere as unconfirmed until the studio narrows it down. The studio also hasn't said whether New Game++ will add any extra difficulty scaling on top of what New Game+ already applies — that detail simply hasn't been part of the announcement so far.

4. Photo Mode Is Coming in November

The second confirmed feature is a full Photo Mode, targeted for November 2026. Remedy says the mode was already in development well before launch and that the studio consulted community virtual photographers while building it, but chose to hold it back so the team could prioritize overall game stability for day one.

That's a reasonable trade-off for a game built around Manhattan's warped, physics-breaking geometry — the kind of environments that are clearly designed to be screenshotted once players have the tools to do it properly.

5. More Cosmetics for Dylan

Alongside the two headline features, Remedy confirmed that additional cosmetic options for Dylan are planned across future updates, without detailing specific outfits or how they'll be unlocked. Given the studio's phrasing, these read as ongoing additions rather than a one-off cosmetic pack, so expect them to roll out gradually rather than all at once alongside New Game++ or Photo Mode.

6. What Remedy Has Not Confirmed

It's worth being clear about what wasn't in this announcement. Remedy's roadmap update does not mention a story expansion, a season pass, or any paid downloadable content. Everything confirmed so far — New Game++, Photo Mode, and cosmetics — has been described as a free update, in line with how the studio supported the original Control after its 2019 launch, which received several free content updates and paid narrative expansions over its lifespan.

That track record is a reasonable indicator of intent rather than a promise, and this first roadmap only covers the next couple of months. Anything beyond November — including a possible story expansion — would need its own separate announcement before it can be treated as confirmed.

If you're waiting on balance changes instead of new modes, those are being handled separately through ongoing patches; we covered the most recent one in our breakdown of the Hotfix 1.3.3 combat changes.

7. How Control Resonant Has Performed Since Launch

The roadmap lands against a strong opening for the game commercially. If you want the full story behind Dylan and Jesse before diving into these updates, our release-date and story primer covers the setup in full, and this look back at the launch trailer is worth a revisit now that the game is actually out.
