Quick Summary

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone's Season 06 quietly reworked Ranked Play's SR economy and replaced every Win Streak camo reward. Here's what Raven Software's official patch notes say about deployment fees, disabled SR Challenges, and the deadline on Black Ops Royale's exclusive camos.

Season 06 is the current season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone, and alongside the Halloween-themed "Haunting" content drop, Raven Software quietly reworked how competitive Ranked Play behaves and overhauled the camo rewards tied to win streaks. If you grind Ranked Play or chase Win Streak camos, the October 7 patch notes change several numbers that matter: deployment fees in the top divisions, whether SR Challenges exist at all, and which weapon camos are tied to Black Ops Royale before that mode disappears.

Here is exactly what changed, sourced directly from the official Season 06 patch notes, and what it means if you're trying to climb the Top 250 or finish a Win Streak camo before the season ends.

1. Why Black Ops 7's Ranked Season 06 Is Deliberately Short

Unlike previous Black Ops 7 seasons, Season 06's Ranked Play is intentionally compressed. Raven Software explained the reasoning directly in the official patch notes: "Season 06 is a shorter Ranked season, giving us an opportunity to test meaningful changes and evaluate their impact quickly." The goal, per the developers, is "increasing the competitive challenge within the Top 250 while preserving a path to the top of the ladder that does not feel overly punishing."

In practice, that means the changes below are being treated as a live experiment. Expect Raven to publish follow-up notes on how the Top 250 and Skill Rating curve respond once Season 06 wraps.

2. Deployment Fees Just Went Up in Diamond and Above

The headline change is to Skill Rating (SR) economy at the top of the ladder. Raven said it has "seen significant SR inflation in Diamond and above over the past few seasons," and is responding by increasing deployment fees — the SR cost paid before a match counts toward your rank — specifically in the Diamond-and-above divisions.

The stated effects, per the official notes:

  • The maximum SR earnable in a single match is reduced for high-division players.
  • This is expected to significantly compress the Top 250 leaderboard, since players can no longer snowball a single hot streak into a huge SR lead.
  • SR amounts for Division breakpoints remain unchanged — climbing from Platinum to Diamond, for example, still costs the same SR it did last season. Only the economy above that point is affected.

If you're grinding toward Diamond or Platinum, this patch changes very little for you. If you're already competing for a Top 250 spot, expect SR gains per win to feel noticeably smaller than they did in Season 05.

3. SR Challenges Are Disabled for the Rest of Season 06

Ranked Play's SR Challenges — bonus objectives that granted extra Skill Rating on completion — have been turned off entirely for Season 06. Raven's stated reason is specific: "These challenges were originally intended to help players reach their true rank faster, but we've seen players hold onto them to create a larger SR cushion later in the season. Disabling them will give us a clearer read on the underlying SR system."

In other words, the challenges were being used as a banked safety net rather than an accelerant, which defeated their original purpose. With them gone, SR movement this season reflects match performance alone, with no stored bonuses to fall back on.

4. Resurgence Ranked Play Gets Its Own Map Rotation

Ranked Play: Resurgence runs on the same three-weeks-normal, one-week-Ranked-Series schedule as Multiplayer Ranked this season. According to the current Warzone playlist update, Ranked Play: Resurgence (Trios) rotates between Fortune's Keep, Haven's Hollow, and Rebirth Island. That's a different pool from the casual Resurgence Quads playlist, which is instead running the Halloween-reskinned Haunted Hollow version of the map for the duration of the season's event.

If you queue Ranked Resurgence expecting the spooky reskin, you won't see it — the competitive playlist uses the standard Haven's Hollow layout, not the event version.

5. Win Streak Rewards Were Completely Replaced

Season 05's Win Streak weapon camos are no longer obtainable — Season 06 introduced its own set, split by mode. Per the official patch notes, the current Win Streak camo rewards are:

Battle Royale

  • Win 10 Consecutive Matches: "Eye of the Storm" Weapon Camo
  • Win 25 Consecutive Matches: "Stormfront" Weapon Camo

Resurgence

  • Win 30 Consecutive Matches: "Harvest Haunt" Weapon Camo
  • Win 50 Consecutive Matches: "Neon Nightmare" Weapon Camo

Black Ops Royale

  • Win 10 Consecutive Matches: "Crimson Omen" Weapon Camo
  • Win 25 Consecutive Matches: "Contagion" Weapon Camo

These stack with — but are separate from — the Camo Costume Party seasonal event, which rewards its own camos and the Arcblade melee weapon for completing Weapon Class Camo Challenges across Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, and Warzone.

6. Black Ops Royale's Camos Come With a Deadline

The official notes include a direct warning for Black Ops Royale players: "Season 06 will be your last chance to play Black Ops Royale. Get those wins in and earn your Weapon Camos before the end of Season 06!" That's an explicit statement from Raven Software that the mode itself — not just its current reward track — is being retired once the season ends.

Black Ops Royale runs on the Avalon map in Quads, per the current playlist update. If you want the "Crimson Omen" or "Contagion" camos, or simply want to experience the mode at all, Season 06 is confirmed as your last opportunity to queue into it.

7. The AFK System Got Clearer Warnings — and Fewer Escapes

Two separate updates this season target AFK (away-from-keyboard) players, which matters for anyone relying on Ranked Play's integrity. First, the September 30 update disabled rejoining for any player removed by the AFK system — once you're kicked for inactivity, that match is over for you.

Then the broader AFK alert system was reworked. Raven's explanation: "We've introduced new AFK alerts and improved detection logic to provide clearer feedback before a player is removed for inactivity. These updates are designed to reduce confusion around AFK removals while also helping target botting behavior that can bypass inactivity checks." Concretely, players now see a splash in the top right of the screen when the game detects their own inactivity, and teammates get a separate top-right alert when a squadmate is flagged as AFK. Raven says it will keep tuning detection logic as the season continues.

8. Quick Recap

  • Ranked Play Season 06 is deliberately short, framed by Raven Software as a live test of SR economy changes.
  • Deployment fees are up in Diamond and above, cutting max SR per match and compressing the Top 250 — lower-division breakpoints are untouched.
  • SR Challenges are disabled all season, so there's no banked SR cushion to lean on.
  • Ranked Play: Resurgence (Trios) rotates Fortune's Keep, Haven's Hollow, and Rebirth Island — not the Haunted Hollow reskin used in casual playlists.
  • Win Streak camos reset every season; Season 06's are "Eye of the Storm"/"Stormfront" (Battle Royale), "Harvest Haunt"/"Neon Nightmare" (Resurgence), and "Crimson Omen"/"Contagion" (Black Ops Royale).
  • Black Ops Royale itself is confirmed to end with Season 06 — finish any win streaks or camo grinds in that mode before the season closes.
  • AFK players can no longer rejoin after being kicked, and both the offending player and their squad now get clearer on-screen warnings beforehand.
