Quick Summary

Phantom Blade Zero launched on PC and PS5 on October 28, 2026. Here are the official minimum and recommended PC requirements straight from Steam, what those performance tiers mean in practice, and what's confirmed about New Game Plus, the 66 Days mode and the Platinum trophy.

Phantom Blade Zero, the wuxia action RPG from S-GAME Studio, launched on PC and PlayStation 5 on October 28, 2026. Review scores and editions have already been covered elsewhere, so this guide focuses on what players actually need on day one: the official PC system requirements straight from the Steam store page, what those two performance tiers mean in practice, and what S-GAME and director Soulframe Liang have confirmed about New Game Plus, the 66 Days mode and the Platinum trophy.

1. Phantom Blade Zero Is Now Live on PC and PS5

Phantom Blade Zero's Steam listing confirms a release date of October 28, 2026, with simultaneous availability on PlayStation 5. The Standard Edition is $59.99, the Digital Deluxe Edition is $69.99, and owners of the Standard Edition can buy a $10.00 Deluxe Edition Upgrade add-on rather than repurchasing the whole game. The title is developed and published by S-GAME. For background on the combat systems and what was confirmed ahead of launch, see our rundown of Phantom Blade Zero's release date and core combat systems.

2. Official Minimum PC Requirements

These figures are taken directly from the game's Steam store page, not third-party estimates:

  • OS: Windows 10/11, 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 145 GB available space, SSD installation required

S-GAME's own note on this tier states it targets 1080p at 30 FPS with upscaling enabled. In other words, the minimum spec is not a native-resolution target — it assumes you'll be running DLSS, FSR or an equivalent upscaler to hit that framerate.

3. Official Recommended PC Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10/11, 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 145 GB available space, SSD installation required

The recommended tier targets 1440p at 60 FPS, again with upscaling enabled. Note that both tiers list the same 145 GB storage footprint, and both require an SSD rather than a traditional hard drive — attempting to run the game from a mechanical drive risks long load times and texture streaming stutter.

4. What the Requirements Actually Mean in Practice

Because both official tiers explicitly build upscaling into their stated framerate, players on older or budget hardware should expect to lean on DLSS, FSR or equivalent from the start rather than treating it as an optional boost. The jump from minimum to recommended is mostly about resolution and framerate headroom (1080p/30 to 1440p/60) rather than a leap in visual fidelity, since Phantom Blade Zero's combat relies on fast, readable animation — frame drops during a parry window are more disruptive here than in a slower-paced game. If you're on hardware close to the minimum spec, consider running at Performance-mode upscaling settings first and stepping up only if the framerate holds steady in combat, not just in menus or cutscenes.

5. Platforms, Price and the Upcoming PS5 Disc Release

At launch, Phantom Blade Zero is a digital release on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) and PS5. S-GAME's own closing message on its launch trailer confirms that physical PS5 editions — Standard, Deluxe and an Ultimate Edition with a collectible steel case — are planned for 2027, separate from the digital launch. No specific 2027 release month, price or retail partner has been confirmed yet, so treat the physical editions as a future release rather than something available this week. If you want the full comparison of what's actually in each digital edition and the game's difficulty options, we covered that in our explainer on the World of Wulin setting, difficulty modes and editions.

6. New Game Plus and the 66 Days Mode

Director Soulframe Liang confirmed New Game Plus in pre-launch press interviews and said there's nothing story-critical locked behind it — it's framed as a bonus for players who already finished the game rather than a requirement to see everything the campaign has to offer. According to Liang, the last ten weapons in the game, including ones tied to powerful late-game bosses, open up new ways to approach fights once you carry them into New Game Plus.

Alongside standard New Game Plus, S-GAME has confirmed a harder mode called 66 Days. Liang has described it as considerably tougher than a standard replay, built around a hard cap of 66 retries for the entire run, tracked on its own separate save file from your main campaign. That cap is the headline mechanic: once a 66 Days save exhausts its retries, that particular run is over, which raises the stakes on every boss fight compared to a normal New Game Plus pass.

7. Game Length and the Platinum Trophy

Liang has put a full playthrough at roughly 25 to 30 hours for an experienced action-RPG player who isn't spending extended time stuck on individual bosses — he's been clear that boss attempts are the biggest variable in how long any one player's run actually takes. On trophies, S-GAME's own statement is that most players should be able to earn the Platinum in a single playthrough on any difficulty, provided they explore properly, engage with the combat systems, and learn enemy patterns rather than rushing past them. That's not the same as saying it's effortless, but it does mean a second clean run isn't required just to mop up missed trophies, which is worth knowing before you commit to a difficulty for your first playthrough.

8. Quick Tips for Launch Day

  • Check your free disk space before queuing the download — both requirement tiers list the same 145 GB footprint, and an SSD is required, not just recommended.
  • If your GPU sits near the minimum spec, go into the graphics settings and confirm upscaling is active before judging performance, since the official 30 FPS and 60 FPS targets both assume it's on.
  • New Game Plus carries your endgame weapons forward and isn't required to see the story, so there's no need to feel pressured into starting it immediately after credits roll.
  • If you intend to try 66 Days mode, treat your first New Game Plus run as practice — it uses a completely separate save, so nothing you do there risks your main file.
  • Platinum hunters can relax slightly: S-GAME's own guidance is that one attentive playthrough should be enough on any difficulty.
