How to Get Robux in 2026: Every Legitimate Way to Buy or Earn Them
Roblox overhauled how Robux works in 2026: Roblox Plus replaced Premium, transfers now require a Plus subscription, and Developer Exchange payouts rose 42% for verified adult creators. Here's every current, official way to buy or earn Robux — plus the scams to avoid.
Robux is the only currency that works across every Roblox experience, and Roblox has changed several of the ways players get it in 2026 — a new Roblox Plus subscription replaced Premium in April, Robux transfers now require Plus membership, and the Developer Exchange payout rate jumped for verified adult creators in June. Here is every current, official way to buy or earn Robux, and what to watch out for.
1. Buy Robux Directly Through Roblox
The simplest option is still a direct purchase on the web, in the mobile app, or through the PlayStation and Xbox apps. Roblox now gives up to 25% more Robux when you buy on computer, on the web, or with a physical or digital gift card — the platform's own example shows a $9.99 purchase now delivering 1,000 Robux instead of the 800 Robux it used to grant. Roblox has said it is "always looking for opportunities to share more" and may extend the bonus to other platforms later.
Gift cards bought at retail stores work the same way: redeeming one on computer or web qualifies for the same bonus tier as a direct web purchase.
2. Subscribe to Roblox Plus for Recurring Robux
Roblox Plus launched globally on April 30, 2026 as the replacement for Roblox Premium. The base subscription costs $4.99 a month and includes an immediate 10% discount on in-game items and avatars (rising to 20% after three consecutive months), free unlimited private servers, avatar item trading, and the ability to publish items for sale — but it does not include a Robux stipend on its own.
To get recurring Robux, you need one of the three optional bundles layered on top of the base subscription:
- Plus 500 — subscription plus 500 Robux per month
- Plus 1000 — subscription plus 1,000 Robux per month
- Plus 2000 — subscription plus 2,000 Robux per month
Existing Premium subscribers were not force-migrated — they keep their old plan and received a free one-month trial of Plus, but new Premium sign-ups stopped, and Premium's old 10% bonus on additional Robux purchases ended on May 30, 2026. 3. Receive Robux as a Gift or Transfer
Roblox lets you request Robux from friends and family instead of buying it yourself. From the Buy Robux page on desktop or web, selecting "Request Robux" generates a shareable link or QR code that a friend can use to send Robux straight into your account — Roblox charges no platform fee on these transfers.
A few rules govern this system:
- Sending a transfer requires an active Roblox Plus subscription, which Roblox says is meant to improve accountability rather than generate fees.
- Accounts with 2-Step Verification enabled and in good standing can send up to 5,000 Robux per day and 10,000 Robux per month.
- As of June 2, 2026, users as young as 16 can send transfers without parental approval in most regions, though some regions still require it for anyone under 18 due to local regulations.
- Parental Controls are getting custom daily and monthly transfer limits in fall 2026, and a "Trusted Friends" system is planned for later in the year so approved friends can transfer instantly.
Cross-game gamepass gifting was retired alongside this change, so the Transfers system (and Group Payouts, which still pay out 100% of funds to a community) are now the main person-to-person routes for Robux.
4. Sell Avatar Items on the Marketplace
If you can design 3D avatar items, clothing, or accessories, you can list them on the Roblox Marketplace and earn Robux every time someone buys one. Roblox's official Creator Hub documentation confirms creators "earn at least 30% of the gross of any item sales." Limited items also pay the original creator a cut on every resale.
To sell on the Marketplace, Roblox currently requires:
- Completed ID/age verification
- An active Roblox Plus subscription, or a legacy Premium 1000 or 2200 membership
- A clean record under Roblox's Community Standards and Marketplace Policies
- Payment of an upfront, rebatable publishing fee for most items (free Limiteds are exempt)
These requirements apply whether you publish as an individual or through a group.
5. Build an Experience and Earn Through Creator Rewards
Developers who build and publish experiences earn Robux automatically through Roblox's Creator Rewards program, which has been fully live since July 24, 2025 with no enrollment required. It has two parts:
- Daily Engagement Rewards pay 5 Robux for every "Active Spender" (someone who has spent at least $9.99 in the past 60 days) who plays your experience as one of their first three visits of the day and stays at least 10 minutes. These rewards accrue as Earned Robux with a 60-day holding period before they can be cashed out.
- Audience Expansion Rewards pay developers a 35% revenue share on a new or reactivated player's first $100 of qualifying purchases anywhere on Roblox, within 60 days of that player joining or returning through your experience. This tier requires an ID-verified account in good standing and a valid Developer Exchange account.

6. Cash Out Earned Robux Through Developer Exchange (DevEx)
Robux earned from experiences, Marketplace sales, or Creator Rewards can be converted into real money through Roblox's Developer Exchange program. As of June 8, 2026, Roblox raised the qualifying DevEx rate by 42% for spending from age-verified U.S. players 18 and older on games that use R15 avatars, covering game passes, developer products, subscriptions, and private servers. Roblox said the change reflects the fact that its 18-to-34 U.S. audience is growing more than 50% year-over-year and monetizes 50% higher than younger players; the company paid out more than $1.5 billion to creators through DevEx in 2025.
Current published rates are:
- $0.0054 per Robux — the enhanced rate for qualifying spend from verified U.S. players 18+
- $0.0038 per Robux — the standard rate for all other Earned Robux
- $0.0035 per Robux — the legacy rate that still applies to Robux earned before September 5, 2025
To cash out, a creator needs at least 13 years of age, a minimum 30,000 Earned Robux balance, a verified email, a completed DevEx portal account, and a filed IRS W-9 (U.S.) or W-8 (international) form. Requests are made from Creator Hub under Finances, typically process in 5–10 business days, and can only be submitted once per calendar month.
7. Watch Out for "Free Robux" Scams
Roblox is direct about this one: there is no legitimate way to generate free Robux outside the methods above. Any site, video, or in-experience prompt claiming to offer a "Robux generator" is a scam designed to steal your account credentials or payment details, and Roblox asks players to report them on sight. Robux only ever comes from a real purchase or from one of the official earning paths described here — never from a third-party generator, no matter how convincing the promise looks.
